I was a giga fan of the first two Shining Force games and nearly lost my shit when I found out there was another game before them. I had no idea until one day the games on Sega Channel refreshed and Shining in the Darkness was listed before the other two. Imagine my surprise when I started it and it turned out to be some dog shit first-person dungeon crawler. I put about 30 hours into it, mostly grinding because that's all the game even is, and then one of my little brothers loaded some kiddy game that overwrote my save. I've never played it since and I regret those 30 hours I lost.
Little did I know that it would be the first in a long line of atrocities to blaspheme the Shining series name.
