Do anyone have a collection like this? Aren't you embarrassed about what girls or friends will think or even your parents? They might think it's mental illness to collect all that no?
>>12530846I think it's mental illness to spam bait threads all day, auster
>>12530846why go on the internet and berate people you dont know about collections they may or may not have? Why care?
>>12530846Girls love Nintendo games and would cumm hard at the sight of this collection. Sony is incel territory and a massive red flag
>>12530846people like this dont play games
>>12530846>Aren't you embarrassed about what girls or friends will think Lmao
>>12530846I had the early stages of this when I got married and had kids. I had to stop to afford the wife and kids. I had always hoped that my kids would get interested in retro gaming but they never have. Now the shit is too fucking expensive to justify collecting. I decided to just invest in decent controllers like 8bitdo and emulate everything. The reality is I play nothing anymore and just use long plays on YouTube as background noise while I work from home
>>12530846I wouldn't waste that much money on plastic. All you need is the consoles and a good CRT these days.
>>12530846>Aren't you embarrassed about what girls or friends will think or even your parents?I'll be honest with you:If you are ugly or average, anything you do will be cringe or silly, even if you try to decorate your house as stoic as possible. If you're good looking, you can get away with anything.I don't have a display collection, instead I have a lot of old video games (from back in the 90s when I was a kid) mostly stored but I always have a few consoles and carts lying around. All the girls who come to my place like it, they even ask to play them, and think it's cool that I have old analog shit, especially zoomettes. My parents don't really mind at all, my mom tells me to sell it all, as moms usually do, but ultimatelt she can't convince me. My dad still plays some SNES and PS1 sometimes when he comes visit, he's cool with it.With my friends it depends, most of them are jealous of my stuff (in a sane way but they always make comments about how they'd like to own that stuff), the only one who makes jokes about it is a friend who doesn't like console games and only plays soread sheet simulators on PC, we banter a lot but we still are friends and he doesn't mind I own all the stuff, he does tell me to sell it though. But that's just 1 of my friends, the rest loves old consoles.
>>12530846My collection is maybe 1/6 of that but even at my humble level it’s crazy how much the shit is worth and I’d never be able to start now. I can see why zoomers and brown kids are so bitter about it but just be patient, you will find your thing eventually.
>>12530923>just be patient, you will find your thing eventually. You guys have been telling me to wait for the bubble to pop for fucking 10+ years now.If I didn't listen to you I could have made myself a moderate collection back in the 2010s for a fraction of today's prices
My friends are all gaymers who have their own walls of shame and my mom got me into collecting due to being an antique collector and going with her to various flea markets and thrift stores. No female that does not share genetic heritage with me has ever stepped foot in my house.
>>12530846>caring about what women think /v/ is down the hall and to the left. If you’re going to come onto a retro board, by this point, you’re expected to have wisened up about their evil natures and want nothing to do with them. Setting high scores in shmups will always be superior to interacting with the vaginal Jew.
>>12530925The bubble won’t ever pop
>>12530930Wise words.
>>12530846I love doing my part in gatekeeping people like you from owning retro games.
I have a collection of about 400 games, but the only ones I have displayed (if having them on a shelf in my living room counts as that) are the ones I can play on the consoles I currently have hooked up to my TV, which are my Switch games, the 360 games I have that run on my Xbox One, and the handful of Switch 2, Xbox One, PS5 and PS3 games that I have. It's more shelf space than I'd actually like to have taken up by games, but no, I'm not embarrassed by it.
>>12530846I've had plenty of women over, none of them gave a shit about the shelves of games except the one that actually liked video games. She was a modern gamer though, liked playing new stuff when it came out and sold whatever games she had to buy the newest instead of collecting them, she only had about 10 PS4 and Switch games. I dated one woman who asked if I had Aladdin for the Genesis, it was a game she played with her dad a bunch as a kid. I grew up with SNES Aladdin so I didn't, but I found a CIB copy for around $10 and got it, she was pleasantly surprised the next time she came over and we played it for about an hour. She was terrible lol, I had to do all the hard parts for her. She never asked to play it again, and that's normal, most people will revisit a fond book or movie or game from their childhood briefly and then they're good for years. It was kinda cool dating a gamer woman. She had a LOT of personal problems, but i remember watching her playing Pokemon Legends and Elden Ring for hours and it was nice. Most of the other women I dated wanted to come over, smoke weed, eat food, watch movies and roll around in the hay for a while. They didn't want to play games.
>>12530846>girls or friendsdude... not cool
>>12530903That looks pretty co- it's that an xbox on the fucking floor?
>>12530908How can I manage to get a zoomette to come to my house?
>>12530846>no gc twilight princess>no 3ds majora's mask
>>12530930>incel dorknot retro. real retro gamers are 35+ and have wives and kids and own houses.
IT'S THE SAME FUCKING SHIT ON HERE EVERY SINGLE DAY. IT'S NOT FUNNY, YOU ARE MENTALLY ILL AND/OR CHALLENGED.
Even psychiatrists cannot succinctly or coherently describe what "mental illness" generally infers... Atop this ill-witted claim, you seemed to have assume a true gamer needs transient, vapid queens of the trailer park for sport. Nay, good sir, nay... I have my one humble, and true queen sitting right next to me at all times. As well as this, she is adorned with the beauty of a thousand suns. If you cannot find an attractive woman, whom ALSO likes video games and collecting, then YOU ALONE have failed. And with that failure: you prattle about upon my simple retro basket weaving forum; you cannot resist embarrassing yourself in the presumptive hubris that befalls all whom project into this very same void, that which we call "The Internet."
>>12531078Only the 35+ part of that factors in.
>>12530846I don't know why anyone would care or complain what someone else's hobbies are, but I stopped giving a shit what other people think long ago. I'm not living for someone else, I'm living my life for myself.
>>12530846It's not even that big
>>12530867yeah a lot of girls are actually into it, many of them have good memories of retro games just like dudes do
>>12530846>big gray wall of loose SNES cartsLooks fucking GHETTO. Just use a flash cart if you need instant access to the entire library at all times.
I bet the guy spend months on getting his room just the way he wanted it and then barely used it when it was finished.
>>12530846is this really the average retro gamers dream? to turn your room into what looks like a gamestop?hideous
>>12530846I mean, you have to keep in mind that setups like this are not front and center in the living room for all to see. They're typically in a finished basement, which is what this one appears to be, or perhaps in a spare back bedroom. Now, would I personally for a look like this? No, I don't think making your game room look like the inside of a gamestop is comfy, but to each his own. I have the same number of consoles hooked up to a dual CRT setup and my shelf of games is one bookshelf (like one of the two seen on the right of the TV in that pic)Also, keep in mind that you can use this same logic towards plenty of hobbies. If someone is an amateur musician, they probably have their rock band equipment in the garage and hang out there. If someone is a boomer with a big lionel train collection and massive platforms for all their trains and tracks and displays, it's probably in the basement.
>>12531594Sure, why not? Same way as a kid you would want your own personal toy store, or car guys set up garages filled with vintage signs.
I have about 2000 games.I would really love to sell most of it and only focus on top quality things I love going forward.Almost all of it except the modern stuff I found for very cheap.
>>12532021You're supposed to grow out of your childish desires, not wallow in them.
cope and seethe emutroons
>>12530846>Do anyone have a collection like this?Yes.>Aren't you embarrassed about what girls or friends will think or even your parents? No.>They might think it's mental illness to collect all that no?They don't care. They don't think about me or my collection. People don't think about other people near as much as you think.
>>12532728>You're supposed to grow out of your childish desires, not wallow in them.As long as it doesn't stop you from doing the more important things, who cares? People are always going to have downtime to enjoy how they like.
>>12532728People who have money are allowed to embrace their childish desires.
>>12532728I do what I want.
I have a for more embarrassing collection, bootleg Japanese wrestling. But maybe it’s because I live in California, but women seems to be excited I actually like something other than Trump and crypto scams.

>>12530846It's my dream and I both admire and feel happy for those who've pulled it off, I hope to have a small collection one day at least with the few consoles and titles I like most, but now I have to save money, so emulation's the only option that makes sense to me. Right now my "shelves" look like this, a bunch of folders, it works, but one day I'll have the real deal, I hope.
>>12530846No. I don't really care to collect random games I never played.Everything in this pic is meaningful to me, either childhood stuff, teenage years, etc.
>>12532728you sound like an unsufferable miserable faggot and i hope you either kill yourself or die from Lou Gehrig's disease
Just get what you like who cares if you aren’t embarrassed about it it deflates others attacksDefend your hobby and what you enjoy I don’t look down on people for doing what they like even if it’s not something I personally would choose I would be more concerned that it makes them happy Some people are essentially hoarders with collecting things and the joy is not there, that is shameful
>>12530901Divorce your wife and disown your kids. They'll come to resent you anyway. Retro games were there for you as you grew up and they'll be there for you on your death bed.
>>12531063eh, the intakes are on the sides on these, should be fine.
>>12530846I've got collections like that for both games and comic books (floppies and collected editions). Honestly, the sort of women I date (I'm 4 years into my current relationship) or fucked tend to find it fun, even if they don't game. People always walk over and oggle things and ask questions. That's one of those things where actually being attractive tends to work in your favour. Henry Cavill liking Warhammer is hot. YOU liking Warhammer is sad.
>>12530846i just think they're neat(not mine i only have 300 or so)
