I miss when games looked like this

Now everything just looks grey and boring

Is ape escape ps1 worth playing btw?

Athens is a very underutilised location for games, it looked gorgeous in Unleashed
>>
>>12532082
That's just Santorini, anon. You see that as a location in plenty of modern games still.

Settings like that are always kino

One of my favorite levels in K7

Not retro

neither are you

Same. I love the outdoors level in Texas, too

Not an argument. Read the rules next time newfag

It's the best one

do you like reading comprehension or are you the latest AI datamodel?

I think it's the best one. 3 has some very creative gimmicks but at the same time relies too heavily on them, a lot of levels tend to be flat and you're often just going from scripted setpieces to scripted setpiece, makes the levels feel more like theme parks. 1 is more balanced in that regard, plus it has the best soundtrack.

We're not in 2009 anymore dude
Games are allowed to have color now.
>>
>>12532306
lol
>>
>>12532232
I like it too but those Giant Smiles ruin it for me. Glad they never make an appearance again. Worst thing in the entire game though is the school level with all those jetpack toting Broken Smile cunts.
>>
>>12532306
It's not the same
I hate colorslop

I miss when game characters looked like this

Comfy vibrant game, I wish japs still made games like this. Ape escape 1 is good but the ps2 games perfected the formula
>>
What's the point of threads like this? That you wish modern games looked like this? What does it matter if this is the retro games board. If they looked like that you still wouldn't be able to talk about them here anyway. And since retro games do look like that you can talk about them here without bringing that up. It just makes no sense to me to complain about it here.
>>
>>12532815
It's a "stealth" non-retro thread for people to complain about modern gaming.
>>
>>12532306
True but also >>12532343
Modern colorful western indies simply don't hit the same
>>
>>12532236
It's absolutely not. AE1 actually sucks. The camera ruins it and the soundtrack isn't as good as people say, in fact I played most of the game muted. Possibly the single most overrated ps1 game.
>>
>>12532232
Same here actually, the Italy(?)/Europe level and TX are both my favorite levels
>>
>>12532084
arent those greek island homes, not athens
>>
>>12532236
>>12532289
Okay thanks guys, I shall play it then
>>
>>12533251
the pal version has a different dub that's supposedly better (haven't played it myself, only the us version)

Yes, it's Santorini. Modern day Athens infamously looks like absolute shit. Pic related.
