Yeah, Jurassic Park was the logical conclusion of the dinosaur love, but I vividly remember being passionate about dinos years before JP.If you think about it, cataloging monsters is a kind of (sane) autism that most kids love, it's one of the reasons Pokemon is popular, the reason kaijus are popular, but before all that, we had dinosaur encyclopedias and magazines and we obsessed over the different types, different eras, and memorized their complicated scientific names and remembered their height and weight and were amazed when thinking about that compared to our size.It went beyond just playing with toys or having dinosaur merch, it was about actually getting to know these creatures and their characteristics. And the amount of dinos and other prehistoric creatures is seemingly infinite too.I think there still are kids who love dinos but it's not a global phenomenon anymore. I guess in part due to "science ruining them" and in part kids being too distracted by social media brainrot to care about dinosaurs unless it's in a funny meme AIslop ironic form.

Dinosaurs are bad ass. Jurrasic Park. The Land Before Time, that Dinosaurs show, Flintstones on syndication and the live action movies, among other things. Transformers had the Dinobots and later the Predacons, Godzilla. Fuck man, dinosaurs and dinosaur adjacent things were everywhere. It was one of the few educational things most kids would watch. I remember going over my aunts house one time because there was a special on dinosaurs on tv. Might have been discovery channel or animal planet but it was full 3d renderings of dinosaurs in their natural environments and it was really cutting edge for it's time.They were like robots or aliens to us but they were real. You could go to a museum and see their bones, see that they existed and walked the earth.
