Western developers based their shit on Dungeons and Dragons because that was popular in the West. Likewise, Dungeons and Dragons was very popular in Japan at the time and Japanese developers did the same thing that Western developers did, so if you're going to accuse the Japanese devs of stealing than you also have to accuse the Western devs.Eventually D&D fell out of favor and Sword World came in to replace it so Japanese games diverged a bit.
