I'm playing Medal of Honor, and I just beat the fourth mission where I gassed a bunch of Nazis. What's the big deal about this game? Literally every level is a series of dark hallways, and there's screen tearing on top of that. It feels like a ghetto GoldenEye.
>>12537749>show badge>?>profit
>>12537749It's very janky. I kept getting stuck on corners. It's just sonyggers overrating it since it was seen as their answer to GE.
Nazis are bad peopleThey pulled off 100,000 10/7s
>>12537749Goldeneye/PD fag here who also likes MoH. It's a good FPS on a console that lacks them. It's also the first significant WW2 first-person shooter (don't come at me with Wolfenstein and RotT). It had high production values and a great presentation. Saving Private Ryan had released the year before, and CoD was still four years away. It hasn't aged as well as some if the later entries, but it plays well enough that I can still enjoy it. It and Underground were the only PSX FPS games that ever got any splitscreen time amongst my friends. It's just a much slower, atmospheric kind of game. More stop and shoot than run n' gun. It's also the first FPS I played that offered a twin stick setup, so there's that.
>>12537810Damn the nut cracker skin. Reading this reminded me of a ps2 MoH i played where you start off on the shores of omaha i think? Im not a histoty guy so idk the names but yea i was hooked on that game.
>>12537810When I tried to move diagonally with the stick I walk as slow as a snail. Did this happen to anyone else?
>>12537749>What's the big deal about this game? Not many games where you played as the bad guys at the time.
>>12537820Sounds like a weird controller deadzone issue.Try it in a different game.
>>12537749while small in scope it was modern feeling in presentation and design. it after all was made by the eventual creators of call a duty. also if you dig in the controls it has an unusually polished early implementation of dual analog fps controls. in that aspect it plays better than a lot of stuff that came out well into the ps2's lifespan.
>>12537749Play Medal of Honor Frontline for PS2, amazing game
they should make some ww2 shooters again. im finally ready for another d-day level
>>12537962I'd rather have some Korea instead. I know it's not gonna happen, but I still want it
>>12537962I want a WWII game...where you play as the Germans.
>>12538021That's antisemitic
PS1 MOHs are some of the worst fps-s|op to ever exist. Terrible gunplay, dogshit crackling audio design, dumbass AI that can't even compete with GE, and of course the already extremely outdated on release engine and its issues like getting stuck on every bit of level geometry ever.
>>12538032skill issue
>>12538024ok i'll settle for the japanese fighting baka gaijin
>>12537749It's easily the best FPS on the PS1 excluding ports like Doom and Quake 2
>>12537914>made by the eventual creators of call a dutyI thought that was Allied Assault
>>12537749>>12537810The first game is fine but Underground had some absolute bullshit missions
>>12537873It's just MoH. I tried Crash 2 and that worked fine.
>>12537749the deal is, we jumped from mario world to kill nazis in 3d
>>12537952Thats the one.
>>12537786>>>/pol/>>>/anywherebuthere/
>>12537749Dumb zoomer. MoH is the GOAT and better than GoldenEye
>>12537749>>12537765>>12537820MoH is the first console game to use modern FPS controlw for two joysticks, it was the first game to have mouse look tied to the right stick and movement for the left.Your fault for not setting up the controls correctly (setting #4 in the options menu)
>>12539696>it was the first game to have mouse look tied to the right stick and movement for the left.Descent got it beat by a few years.
>>12539696the joystick ds controller was not out when moh came out
>>12539734>>12539738The absolute fucking state of this board.Descent was release in 1996, before the existence of the dual shock, and does not have a control scheme for DS controllers
>>12539748>>12539738MoH came out in 1999. almost three years after the release of the dual shock, and thus has several options for the controllerfucking zoomers
zoomies gonna zoom
>>12539748Embarrassing larping sperg.
>>12539768>But muh mechwarrior 9000!You fucking know that's not an fps controller, you knew that when you posted it. Descent has no controls for the dual shock, btw. Lol
>>12539768Oh, and of course you literally thought moh didn't have DS controls at allLmao
>>12537749>goldeneye mentionedOf course it's a mindbroken nintentroon
>>12539773Don't move the goalpost. MoH is not the first FPS with dual analog controls.
>>12537749It was basically Goldeneye for the Playstation, and while it wasn't quite up to Goldeneye's standard, it was still pretty damn good.Still holds up today.
>>12539784Medal of Honor was literally meant to be "Goldeneye at home". Sit down, fanboy faggot.
>>12539796Only person here trying to move goal posts, is you, chief
>>12539738fucking zoomers, I hope you feel dumb
>>12539807https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIBkRpLo1Pg&t=11m45s
>>12539784Ironic.
>>12537749Way better than ShittyEyeMoH doesn't run at 10~20 fps and the player actually need to aim and plan the advance, while in shittyEye you can literally hold down the forward key and press the fire button when it auto-aim to the closest enemy
>>12539830>MoH doesn't run at 10~20 fpsYeah, it actually chugs way harder. The later levels get practically unplayable at points. Good thing the draw distance sucks ass to try to mitigate it.
>>12539830It's also better than GoldenEye because it was the first fps designed for modern control schemes, the dual shock with mouse look was a much better control method
>>12539784Spielberg himself was literally inspired to have the game developed the after seeing his son play Goldeneye, lol
>>12539830MoH is easier though. There's health and ammo pickups fucking everywhere and all the levels are hallways anyway. You get a bazooka near the end and can just rape the shit out of every encounter.
>>12539820https://youtu.be/uM4PZhIzyvo?si=JxDwpMJbK4ZhEXlS
>>12539912That guy's a fucking retard. People give that shitty studio-killing game too much credit because of a review quote.
>>12537962There are actually two MoH-likes currently in development in the indie scene, one called Flash Thunder by the creator of Cultic and another called Legion of Honor
>>12540068Some madlad also fully remade MoH in UE4 and released it for free a few weeks ago
>>12539738I still want to know want this anon was thinking when he wrote this post
>>12537749it worked around PS limitations with its art direction very well for its time. Screen tearing was usually only when larger FX was going on.
>>12537749This game and underground are okay, but I don't think MOH got good until Frontline
>12540167>FrontlineOh, you poor console fag
>>12540179Frontline is better than MoHAA except for multiplayer.
>>12540186Except for polygon count, map size, number of AI units, effects, graphics, physics and AI behavior?Ok champ. Whatever you say. AA is free to download btw. So you can play it for the first time, if you feel interested.
My favorite is Airborne (2007 was almost 20 years ago it's retro goddammit)
>>12540068Do you have a link to Flash Thunder anywhere? I am gonna be real chief, I have been digging for like 15 minutes and I haven't found shit.
>>12537749No one mentioned the obvious answer here. It was produced by Steven Spielberg, who at the time just made Saving Private Ryan. And so for the next 10 years, most FPS games were WWII Era due to this.
>>12541857several anons mentioned Spielberg and Saving Private Ryan their poststry reading next time
>>12541857>No one mentioned the obvious answerIt literally doesn't need to be mentioned, it's in the making of documentary in the fucking game
>>12537749Not playing this yank jank.
>>12537749too bad you are only fighting 1-2 enemies at the time
>>12541589Only the dev's twitter so farhttps://x.com/i/status/2044085640598311230
