Original didn't have this issue, you could time travel a lot of times and the timer would always reset back, which let you explore as much as you wanted.There's no real reason to remove this mechanic other than an oversight or glitch.

>>12540107Mania is a fantastic game and blows away both Sonic 2 and 3&K in terms of sheer stage quality consistency. The issue is that nearly all of the main boss fights are horrendously bad. Every time I replay it I have tons of fun that comes to a screeching halt because the devs thought it would be positively hilarious to have ANOTHER level end with a gag that only works once or something that would have felt more mechanically at home in one of the trashy Dimps games.
