I wish they made it half as long and kept the Pikmin-ish time limit from the actual tech demo.There's a genuine arcade game hidden somewhere within Luigi's Mansion, best example being the borderline Beat em Up levels of crowd control and positioning.The more you play 2D arcade beat em ups, the more it becomes apparent how 3d titles couldn't work exactly the same (even SpikeOut),because model collision exists and nobody wants a game where 3D models clip into each other.Luigi's Mansion is a game with ghosts that have no business giving a single fuck about any of that.The game allows for the kind of enemy herding and crowd control you don't see in most other 3D action games.I genuinely think Luigi's Mansion is one of the most tragic examples of "Why did this have to be made by Nintendo".I have not played 2 and couldn't stand 3, but the scarescraper """"arcade"""" mode in the sequels are the closest thing to what I want out of this game.Would be so cool if romhacking people weren't creatively bankrupt hacks
