Emulate the Saturn version if you want a higher frame rate, but want to suffer through a worse soundtrack. Play farther away from your screen than usual, and most importantly, use an analog stick instead of a dpad.

Sonic has so many bizarre and experimental games that i love it when i was a kid i always liked Sonic i never understood why i never delved deeper into Sonic games and his fandom

the saturn port of sonic 3d blast was originally planned to be a sequel called "3d blast of sonic's cum", a game that promised to blow giant cumloads onto the player's face and clothes. it was cancelled because the programmers got too horny trying to work on it and could never make any progress. the final game contains an unused graphic of the words "YOU CAN'T DODGE THIS" that was meant to rapidly flash on screen before the unspeakable happened.

Sonic 3D blast is a perfectly fine game. If it were an original IP instead of a Sonic game, I feel like it would definitely be considered a "hidden gem" by retarded social media influencers. But as a Sonic game, it just has the reputation of being the first major entry in the series to try and change the established formula, and failing.

It's essentially Flicky in 3D, and with Sonic.
It's got excellent level design that's so fun to move around in and explore.
Getting 100% completion, especially in the DX version by Jon Burton, one of my favorite Sonic titles.
