I can't even fathom how depressed and angry you'd have to be to not like this game.
>>
It's just not that good.

I'M A CHUCKSTER

Mario Sunshine is a great game and the only people who hate it are 100% completionist cheevos autists who by default should be filtered and disregarded from all gaming discussion.
>>
No Peach poon
>>
>>12541136
This. Getting all shine sprites/blue coins is only if you absolutely love the game and can't get enough.
>>
>People's favorite parts are when the main gimmick of the game is taken away
LOL
>>
>>12541162
Nah actually
>>
>>12541136
I love the game but I missed one blue coin. I'll be a bit salty about that forever probably.
>>
I have intense hydrophobia which makes me HATE this game. Do NOT fucking spray water at people who don't ask for it.
>>
>>12541176
heh. You're alright, anon.
>>
>>12541120
>I can't even fathom how depressed and angry
Are you projecting? can't you dislike things in a calmly manner?
>>
>>12541120
Best 3D Mario.

>hear a squirt
>water hits you in the eye and temple
>you turn around
>its a nigger

>>12541127
fpbp. it was immediately obvious this was a downgrade over 64
>>
>>12541136
>doing all of a game's content is now bad
Holy kek Gamecube kids are one of a kind
>>
>>12541136
yep, pretty much this. treating things like a checklist of things to get done for the sake of getting them done, instead of just having fun PLAYING the game just outs them as retards. i had so much fun just fucking around in each stage and its variations. i liked trying to figure out which instance contained the most coins, and then trying to collect all of them for a "highscore". checking all over to see whats different about each instance was fun too. these checklist losers have no sense of adventure, exploration, or even fun.

I was quite fond of it growing up and mostly playing it at a friend's house (my family had a PS2). In particular, Mario's snappy controls such as the instant sideflip, and the nuance with which you can use the hover nozzle, are very fun.

Having played the game more recently though, the level design peaks at "pretty cool, but a bit jank" (most of the Treetop Village shines) to "annoying as fuck" (most of the Hotel shines, some of the secret level shines). Some of the solutions are cryptic or jank to the point where I tried something a couple times and dismissed it as incorrect, when in fact that is what I was supposed to do and the hit detection or some other thing bugged out (the watermelon smoothie shine for example).
I like it more than Galaxy, but not as much as Galaxy 2 or 64.
Odyssey could have done with an editing pass to cut the more unremarkable moons, but it has the best level + control combo of any 3D Mario.

Maybe that'd be true if that was the reality but it's not, so please stop making up things in your fantasy land and snap back into reality you stupid fucking faggot.
>>
I enjoy frustrating games more because it feels more rewarding to finish a tedious game
>>
I don't have a particular attachment or awe of mario 64 so I just saw sunshine as a charming enough little game with a bit of jank and weirdness.
>>
>>12541120
It’s good, but it’s so gay that you have to collect the first seven shines of each world to beat the game, unlike 64 where you just needed 70 stars total. Literally makes every blue coin, every 8th shine in a world, and all the hub shines completely worthless unless you’re going for 100%, which is only for masochists
>>
Got it on release.
I did not like the blob characters. I remember some of the challenges being insane. I'm having vague memories of hating a beach side hotel.
But, overall it was great. It still had that snappy movement that made SM64 what it is. I thought the gimmick shit like pachinko was even fun. I almost want to play it again just to see if my memories are misguided.

I didn't like cleaning stuff. It was boring.
>>
>>12541136
I did the bare minimum to clear it and I still hated it

The last soulful Mario game and Nintendo game
>>
>>12541530
Nope this is where the Nu Mario trash started
>>
>>12541120
Did you like the mechanic of cleaning up the goop?
>>
I'm not an insane cultist so I don't have to pretend these dogshit games are any good
>>
>>12541120
I truly feel bad for the kids who were stuck with a GameCube growing up and had to convince themselves Sunshine was good
>>
>>12541539
You could easily say that about Super Mario 64.
>>
>>12541489
>progression is linear and there is optional content
vs
>everything is optional and progression is an arbitrary number
pretending like this is some sort of grand tragedy is pathetic.
>>
>>12541617

It is. I don’t care about getting 100%, so each playthrough of this game will be more or less identical, and I’m forced to play through weaker shines that I would otherwise be able to avoid. Progression in 64 was very clear, and not arbitrary, you experienced it every time you beat Bowser and accessed a new part of the castle.

Especially since the game doesn’t even tell you that’s how it works, as far as I’m aware. I remember playing this game back then, believing I just needed to get a certain number of sprites to continue, like the last game. I think I got to a 100 sprites, then just gave up after that because I didn’t know what the game wanted me to do. Imagine my shock years later when I learned the pachinko machine, the lilypad nonsense, every single blue coin I grabbed, were pointless.

>>12541631
>i dont care about playing the content the game has to offer, i only care about beating the final boss.
good job discrediting yourself.
>Progression in 64 was very clear, and not arbitrary,
you get any arbitrary combination of stars to total up to the amount needed for the next gate. other than ddd1, you and skip the entirety of the basement stages if you like. or the second or third floor instead if you like. progression is a number, and thats it.

you're literally so retarded that you didnt even think "maybe i should do all of the main missions". you're literally such a clown that you dont even enjoy the games you play, you just need to reach that final boss and see the credits. you're a joke. "this time, my playthrough of 64 will be different, because i'll just skip different levels/content". the concept of simply playing it and replaying the levels you want is completely foreign to you. if you arent getting a gold star, if its just a hollow blue one, then its NOT WORTH IT to you. your opinion is worthless and nobody should ever take you seriously.

>>12541136
truth nuke
>>
>>12541120
I didn't hate it, but I also didn't like it.
>>
>>12541162
not me, i loved using FLUDD.
>>
>>12541136
I love sunshine and would call it a 9/10 but its a fair point to criticize blue coin padding and the super shitty not fun shines like pachinko and lily pad. Im the opposite of a completionist but mario 64 is one of the few games I will get everything, because its really fun to do so, not the case at all for sunshine. plus the other issue is that if youre not going for 100%, a huge chunk of the game's shines are actually completely meaningless.
>>
>>12541136
I'm a 100% autist and I love it. Don't put me in the same category as the lesser autists who were filtered by the difficulty.
>>
>>12541175
You probably just had to spray some windows or walk on top of some trees.
>>
>>12541136
>only people who hate it are 100% completionist cheevos autists
This. Always for every game.

>who by default should be filtered and disregarded from all gaming discussion.
Agreed.
