Nintendo SFX2 is SIX TIMES faster than cpu. What would be the ultimate sega enhancement chip?

RP2040 Coprocessor ($1):
•Offload logic so CPU/VDP max out sprites. Scrolling/collision math on 32X lets SH-2s focus on 60fps full screen bitmaps.
•AI for RTS or logic game (Factorio).
•2D object physics, destructible terrain (Worms)
•Modern compression: 20mb/s feels like 60mb/s.
•Geometry: 32X fills polygons well but struggles at vertex math. Handles Transform, Clipping, and Z-position. Feels 5th Gen now.

Lattice iCE40UP5K FPGA ($5):
•Sprite Scaler+Compositor: Transform every sprite/tile. Psuedo Parralax. VDP bottlenecks but 32X surpasses Neo Geo.
•Palette Sequencer: MD can change palette during H-Blank to reach 512 colors but CPU is too busy.Chip holds color table and blasts palettes to CRAM during H-Blank. Combine with the compositor for true transparency.
•Blitter: Blasts sprites from ROM to 32X VRAM. This alone makes Doom 60fps.
•Priority masking: Automates hole-punching in MD layer so 32X can do complex layering.

8mb SDRAM ($1):
•32X cart can send sprites straight to frame buffer. Allows thousands of sprites and can que up data for 32X burst mode (8 words in 12 cycles) so SH-2s never wait again.
•Lighting: Freed by the blitter and RAM, SH-2s gain idle time for dynamic lighting. lmao

btw that's 128 bits in 0.00052 milliseconds or 521 nanoseconds. Which is 0.0000313frames

Snes is weak bruh.

Oh, and in 1 full frame you can load 512 KB of data.

To put in perspective, a doom 32X map is in the ballpark of 100kb. An enemy is around 32kb. There's only 10 enemies in doom 1 so 320kb loads every enemy. With burst mode, you don't even need a full frame to load everything in a single frame.
>>
>>12541754
Understandable.
>>
>>12541756
>>12541746
A fullscreen bitmap on the 32X is 70 KB. So if you have a compositor in the cart, that also allows 60fps full screen bitmaps in every game.

In 320‑pixel mode, the Mega Drive VDP can show up to 80 sprites total.
Each sprite has an 8‑byte (64‑bit) entry in the sprite table (position, size, tile index, flags, etc.).

80×8 bytes = 640bytes = 0.625 KB
So that's how many bytes you need to tell the 32X where NOT to draw, every single frame. Well within the budget of a single burst.

To put it another way, the MD only needs to use 0.2% of every frame to tell the 32X where it's sprites are, while maxing out VDP. So this would work for a bullet hell.

32X is better than Neo Geo while the system cost less than a single game.
Limitation are good in a way, I find excessive scaling on 32 bit games just makes them look blocky and worse.

But I think something like the Vera chip from the commander X16 using a 32X style passthrough could be good.

Sega's no DVD mandate was for the Sega CD was to keep it from outclassing the Saturn which could only run vcds(that you needed a seperate adapter for to avoid paying fees to the vcd council) but it came back to bite them in the ass because nobody thought to lift it when they were engineering the dreamcast. Hindsight is 50/50, either it worked or it didnt.
