I don't really want to get into semantics or pretend there's such a thing as accuracy when it comes to fictional ninja but there's really a pretty clear difference between something like Tenchu or Nightshade and the KYAAAAA UGUU "ninja" from SK. A lot of them don't even dress very ninjay. Frankly I blame Naruto. That shit has been a bigger plague on ninjas than Micheal Dudikoff.

I played it last year. it's got some neat ideas but the stealth isn't very good (you can get spotted by guys who are outsite of visible range), the camera is force inverted (I used emulator settings to fix this), the camera moves on its own to try and prevent it from clipping into level geometry which can throw off your jumps because I loves to do it just before a jump, and the worst part of it is the actual on-foot controls are bad. Kurenai accelerates like a rocket and turns like a truck so it's very hard to actually aim her jumps. you can sort of get good at it but never truly.
the coolest part of the game is her wire weapon stuff because a lot of it is physics based so you can do all sorts of neat things with it, but the way the game is structured means most of it is a novelty that takes more time and effort than just snatching people's heads off with the quicksnatch move. for example, there's one technique that allows you to first wrap the wire around someone's neck, and then you can jump up and over a tree branch to lynch them. but it takes upwards of 10 seconds to do this, and the move to wrap the wire around their neck requires the same setup as the snatch move that takes their head off. and the snatch move is one button that kills instantly. so why bother?

another way I can describe the camera faults it's relative to where Kurenai is facing. you can't line up the camera for a jump, because if you move the camera to try it will instead auto-reset back to wherever Kurenai is facing. and if you try and move the camera whilst running, Kurenai will change direction and the camera will reset to the new direction she is facing. so, you're constantly fighting the camera trying to reset itself and Kurenai trying to change direction to go wherever the camera is pointing. and the camera is poorly tuned so it's difficult to get real precision out of it when you are trying to be quick about your movement (which you'll have to be because about a third of the way through the game you're introduced to platforms that break after a few seconds when you touch them, requiring you be fast traversing them).
so add all of those things up and you can see why people have consistently had problems with it. something as simple as jumping from one roof to another can be a task because being slightly out of alignment with your movement can create a cascade of camera movement and Kurenai changing direction that leads to you spearing off 30 feet from your target

Kurenai is the only reason to play the game at all. without her it would be banished to the dustbin. in the final level of the game she wears some skintight armour that isn't nearly as sexy as her kimono.
