Under depot/mgs2x/source, there's a sys.ini file that is pointing to a cdrom.img, but those lines seem to be commented out. I'm guessing it's supposed to point to the disc normally. In the same directory is the setup exe file for MGS2 Substance's Windows version which is not signed at all and so Windows Defender will cry about it. Oddly enough, trying to run the game makes it complain about a missing .ini file in the same directory as the game .exe's, even if it's put in the directory it's asking for.One interesting note is the game config controls are clearly set for a JP keyboard, since the data is complete gibberish on an english computer.
>>12541897so it's real then? neat
>>12541897>German Southwest Africavgh
>>12541967Yeah, there's this 4MB text file of just words with letters after them. Mostly an h, but sometimes N, NA, or v. I have no idea why it's here or what it's for. Here's the setup program's default control config.
thanks
>>12541637DONT DOWNLOAD IT IT PRODUCES MUSTARD GAS
thanks for the DUD porn, jackass

>>12541637Downloaded from the buzzheavier link. depot.tar.gz - MD5: 5148143f7b54bbabc84b695af76ec684It's the HD collection version. What a fascinating history of this game, as the development progressed from PS2 to Xbox to Windows to Xbox 360 to Vita in that order within a single code base.Apparently the developers of the Vita port shut down at the start of this year, so either OP is a former employee or they went dumpster diving for workstations! :D

>>12542267based>>12542087>md5mind posting sha1/sha256 too? someone already reuploaded this and posted it on /v/ and supposedly one of the original links doesn't work
>>12542276>someone already reuploaded this and posted it on /v/ and supposedly one of the original links doesn't workthat was me. i don't like it when faggots unnecessarily introduce extra steps into something that should be accessible. literally just copied it to gofile, no changes. md5 against the one here if you like, they're the same thing.
So what?I doubt anyone is going to create anything from this code They might look at it and learn something useless like how to program for these shitty old hardware and how much work it takes to deal with older SDKs and APIsWow.I remember reading some Neo Geo code>muh sprites in C!so what lol
>>12542283>So what? It's the only MGS we have source code for, faggot. It's groundbreaking enough for that reason alone.
>>12542280ok, buzzheavier link actually shows the sha1 on it already: a9ea905bc84409aed8eb1474741ecd0f328f91d9i think the very first thing that should be done when these leaks happen is recording the hashes before the original links die and the sharing/repacking inevitably leads to confusion and assholes trying to spread malware

>>12542284In mere months, AI will be capable of decompiling MGS and porting it over to Windows 11 with DLSS5 graphics mode and bone-chilling cover-shooting RPG mechanics added. This is a nothingburger.

>>12542295You will be left in the dust, luddite. I will be enjoying my Ultra 4K raytracing MGS with deckbuilding roguelite crafting mechanics while you are diddling with your MGS 2 source leaks.

Ton of code related to 50/60hz conversions if you search for BP_IsPAL fyi, might be useful for someone that wants to try a true 120hz ver(the master collection 120hz mod only fixed a few of those)
>>12542605sent the cunt an email suggesting a retro board because at the time (like any other point in time tb.h) /v/ was a cesspit and he ended up not only putting /vr/ in but also a few other boards, like alternative sports iirc.i also suggested the cutoff point being like 5th gen kek.
this is just a standard decompmove along
>>12542087Finally got the assets downloaded. Took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out the URL format for Pixeldrain.GameData.tar.xz.004 - MD5: d4c537f58c23e58229be9f85c36e1e2eGameData.tar.xz.003 - MD5: 9e608706d25f464da706f76ed0f8df17GameData.tar.xz.002 - MD5: 87027fb435c3899c1c21438e991d02e7GameData.tar.xz.001 - MD5: 1e15bbae1105650f2f1008792bf2edd7Took even longer to extract the files. Holy shit that is a lot of files. 15k textures in just one folder.Seems to include a lot of audio, non-realtime cutscenes, codec stuff, and textures. No idea if everything's here or if any cut content is here, but you'll surely see fans scouring through this in the coming months.
>>12542679Seeing it's the Vita version, I really doubt there would be any cut content left in the source code by then. Unless Konami really gave Bluepoint absolutely everything they had to port the game and then Bluepoint also gave Armature everything I just don't see it happening. There have been similar source code leaks for these ported versions of games and every single one I've seen is usually completely scrubbed clean of anything that would be unnecessary for the job. But who knows, 17gb is a lot for this game.
>>12542679oh damn good stuffdid you have to make an account for pixeldrain to dl all of it at once?
>>12542679Reupload it to anonfiles.
>>12542691Apparently you can bypass the limits by clicking DL all files on the left.I used https://pixeldrain-bypass.gamedrive.org/ to bypass the limits.Select your file, click on the Details and copy url for each file.
>>12542087Oh shit, that's the HD Collection version? Hopefully someone will be able to build a 4:3 patch this way so people can play the PS3 version on a CRT.
28GB after decompression
>>12542679What are you doing, Snake? You don't have enough to keep you busy?>>12542691Nah. The first two downloaded just normally, after that download speed just gets capped but otherwise no issues.
>>12542695>>12542701sick. thanks anons
The assets are pretty much what is what in Master Collection, just not compressed.
uncompressed as in hd shit?
>>12542712To clarify on wording here, this means just not converted to .CTXR format*The textures that have been posted in this thread so far are identical to the assets that are present in the Master Collection version.
>>12542736darn, so still has the quality reduction starting from the xbox port that https://www.nexusmods.com/metalgearsolid2mc/mods/52 fixes?
>>12542712Yeah. However this could be good to encode the audio and movies properly for Master Collection PC version, since they fucked it up and the fix was to re-encode the PS3 files to PC.
>>12542759meant to >>12542743
neat
>released on april 30thWhat perfect timing
taking a look at GameData it looks to be a mix of compiled assets organized and ripped from onw of the game and stuff bp built on top of it, build pipeline scripts, textures for psn trophies, etc.cool if someone wants to buil the bluepoint ports.wonder if anybody is gonna attempt building the original ps2 version again, all the ps2 specific code code is still there behind an ifdef'd, could build a debug version
>>12541991
too bad it's only MGS2, MGS1 or 3 would have been cool
>>12541637>inb4 the only project that comes from this that sees real progress is some lewd Emma mod from a bunch of weirdos
>>12542857weird how that was your first thought
>>12542856I really want MGS1 to be reverse engineered and receive an official pc port that is actually good. That way they could probably get it to run at 60fps like in OOT. the input latency/lag of MGS1 is the main and really only reason it feels sluggish to play, if they improved that, it'd feel like MGS2. After that, program like a simple camera tweak where the second analogue lets you move the birds eye camera around to spot guards, that way you're looking less at the radar and more at the environment. MGS1 does NOT need a 3d camera, the one it has is great for the game, it'd just be nice to be able to slide it around a bit to reveal guards off screen, it'd significantly improve the flow of the gameplay
>>12542743holy shit that stretched water, I always wondered why the water looked so shit in the hd collection.
>>12542679Are the MD5s supposed to be converted to pixeldrain URLs? I don't see a DDL.
>>12542283 Holy shit you are the faggest.
>>12542857As if MGS2fags would be that based.
>>12542872Here's your URL. OP just formatted it a bit poorly. The MD5 checksums are used for file verification so that when other people eventually redownload this 15 years from now from a mirror of a mirror of a mirror, they can still verify they got the original files.
>>12542861It wasn't, I had some ideas that might be cool but then I remembered faggots always fins some way to ruin these things.>>12542889You're right, it'll be lewd Raiden mods
>>12542145>>12542152I haven't seen someone get BTFO this hard in ages.

>>12543095The content packs sadly do not have any of the cut content from the PS2 version but the source binaries themselves contain references to the cut content such as the flags from Federal Hall.P082_01_p01.w61a.gcl
