>instead of shinning the holy ark make Camelot lake a proper grandiose jrpg around to stand against ff7There, I saved the Saturn
>>12543446>make Camelot lake a proper grandiose jrpg around to stand against ff7>Golden sunChoose one
>>12543472Golden Sun with SF3 3d graphics would absolutely destroy FF7 by 1997/98 standards
>>12543481Golden sun is baby first RPG,the story and writting is childish and the scope of the game is very limited Ridiculous next to FF7 background, cgi, battle animations and story100 millions $ J-RPG vs RPG maker
>>12543495>baby first RPG,the story and writting is childish and the scope of the game is very limitedSo is every Final Fantasy, they are not SMT, people don't care about story anyway >FF7 background, cgi, battle animations and storySF3 already looks better than FF7 in everything but non gameplay cutscenes, FF7 overworld models are laughably bad
>>12543503>So is every Final Fantasy, they are not SMT, people don't care about story anywayNah>SF3 already looks better than FF7 in everything but non gameplay cutscenes, FF7 overworld models are laughably badSF3 overworld model are just sprites hahaFF7 battles model are better with up to 9 enemies on screen and tons of different attack and animationsSF3 max of 2 models is quite pathetic in comparaison
>>12543526>SF3 overworld model are just sprites hahaStill look better than the dumbell arms abominations>FF7 battles model are better with up to 9 enemies on screen As a srpg SF didn't need to have that many enemies on the screen but the Saturn could easily handle that>and tons of different attack and animationsYeah like any jrpg>SF3 max of 2 models is quite pathetic in comparaisonThat's because it's a srpg you fucking retard not because it can't
You would have to be blind if you think any of the INGAME 3d models of FF7 look anywhere close as good as this
>>12543543Look better
>>12543574It really doesn't
>>12543590Sephiroth is far more realistically proportioned ,the joints are much less visible too
>>12543446Sucks but this is the only way people will be honest about how bad these games are
>>12543446Okay see, here's the thing, Camelot are good at art and simple-but-fun gameplay, right? They are, however, absolute fucking garbage at anything resembling a plot.
I wish Sega and Nintendo fired on all cylinders that generation— Nintendo most of all. They were the RPG powerhouse during the SNES era, but as soon as Square jumped to PlayStation, they just gave up? They shit out Quest64 and Paper Mario, and that's it? It's unbelievable that they went out on their backs like that. I understand that a worthwhile 3D RPG would never fit on the N64s anemic cartridges, but what about... more 16-bit RPGs? Earthbound 3 on N64, or hell, a definitive port of the Pokemon 1st/2nd Gen games with slightly better graphics would've greatly helped maintain some of that previous-gen momentum. Sega should've commissioned a Sonic RPG, a Toe Jam and Earl RPG, and Phantasy Star V to compete with shit like FF, DQ, and Wild Arms on PSX.
>>12543446I gotta agree with this >>12543472Golden Sun was painfully generic and dull, the only reason it gets noticed at all is because it was on gba. Rayearth was a way better game than Golden Sun and it was largely ignored. It would just be another forgotten Saturn game.
>>12543761>>12543761I'm gonna share a nigglet tought of mine during the late 90s/early 00s:Stadium and Stadium 2 could have included a GB Pokémon ROM hack in the GB Tower, featuring fewer Pokémon than the original GB games and offering a short, linear campaign. Instead of 140 (151 minus 11 exclusives per game) like Red/Blue, it could have had 40 or 50, focusing on less common ones like Clefable and both Omanyte and Kabuto. Set in the Sevii Islands with no access to Kanto, it would be a shorter standalone expansion that avoids rentals and adds value for anyone with the Transfer Pak, letting you trade your Pokémon from that Stadium R/B/Y ROM hack. For those without a GB, friends could still trade with you. With the NGC, they tried something similar with XD and Colosseum, but dropped the Stadium content and kept only the 3D battles.
>>12543761A sonic metroidvania for the saturn would have been awesome and would justify it not being a 3d platformer
>>12543798Rayearth only failed cause faggots were too afraid to be known/seen playing a mahou shoujo game. Saturn had the best bomberman ever made but nobody has ever played it.
Final fantasy 7 is grossly overrated. I could never get into the game or story.
>>12543446I really enjoyed Holy Ark, so I wouldn’t have had it any other way. We had enough games like FF VII that gen and beyond.
>>12543446>>12543481>mediocre snes rpg packed with annoying bullshit>would destroy the gamechanger that was ff7, that nobody was considering making because it cost so much and was so experimentall-o-l>>12543761people didn't want to play SNES style rpgs on fucking cartridges. they were already experimenting with disc addons for 16bit consoles for this exact reason. why not just release these games on CDs that were cheaper and could store more data? blame nintendo for autistically signing with silicon graphics to make a retarded turd of a console
>>12543543>glitchy popping polygonsyup, it's saturn shit
>>12543446Golden Sun was a fuck awful series and the only reason it got any attention at all was because it was on a nintendo platform starved for rpgs.
>>12543446Only Nintendo (and Sony) knew what to do with Camelot.
>>12543446The world and the puzzle-heavy dungeons in both of these two games are miles better than anything in any Final Fantasy.
