Do I need a map to navigate the gameworld?
>>12545078why the fuck are you playing the sloppy PS1 version? just get the PSP remake it fixes the shitty map and it includes the second rote of the games that was removed from the western release of the PS1 version
>>12545078She lοoks like she fucks high school students.
>>12545107not retroNot RetroNOT RETRO
>>12545078I think it was L2 that brings up a map on the overworld>>12545107PSP's map is retarded
>>12545107I like the music on the PSX and I HATE THE CORNY VOICE ACTING IN THE REMAKE.
>>12545194 Can you date in this game?
>>12545107I beat the psp version of p1 and the game still sucks ass
>>12545260there is a PS1 OST mod for the PSP version>voice actingonly the CGI cutscenes have voice acting and there is only few of them
>shitty handheld port/remake ruins a game and every discussion of said game afterwardsEvery single time. These things are cancer.
>>12545380every PSP port/remake of a PS1 game was better
>>12545078The only thing I needed a map for was nothing. So no probably not. You do need a guide if you wanna recruit Chris though. That's not gonna happen accidentally.
>>12545078WTF is this Star Wars intro text filter?
L2 brings up the game map.but honestly, just play the psp version with the ost mod.the NA ps1 version is a travesty outside of black mark being innately superior to masao.
>>12545380Nah, in this case the PS1 version is awful. It doesn't even have all the routes in.
>>12545107Having played both, I prefer the original in most ways. The over world map is one of the cool things about it. >>12545078No, not at all.
>>12545078No. Even a map can't help you.
>>12545107>>12545078Fpbp, just play the fucking PSP version with the music patch if the original music matters that much to you, it's less way less bastardized than the ps1 version
>>12545965>>12545196
>>12545107There should be a separate/vr/ board for zoomers and millennials.
>>12546135oh fuck off insisting on playing the inferior shitty version of a game just because it's retro does not make you look coolif someone makes a thread about Star Ocean am sure a faggot like you will recommend the terrible SNES version over the superior First Departure
All this hate for the English PS1 release does have me wondering how much of my love for it was from nostalgia. I've beaten both the psp remake and the PS1 version but I started with the PS1 version ages ago. I think there's things about it to actually like as >>12545621 has shared. But it's obviously a seriously gimped version of Persona 1. I do indeed still prefer it. Shame they were too lazy to shove in the snow queen stuff.
>Play dungeon crawler>Do I need a mapYou know who I feel bad for? the people who made graph paper. the hit they must have taken from people no longer drawing vidya maps must have been brutal.
>>12546751>All this hate for the English PS1 release does have me wondering how much of my love for it was from nostalgia.I think you really need to look at it from the perspective of the time. There are some pretty significant issues with the western release, the snow queen quest chiefly, but it was the 90s and RPGs were still really niche. The fact that they went to the effort to change things to make it appear more western certainly sets off the weebs of today but it was done with the intent of actually getting the game and perhaps even the genre over. The big anime boom hadn't happened yet so doing anything this intensely Japanese was a big risk. Even Persona 3 being as successful overseas wasn't something anyone would have predicted. So while I would still ultimately call it an inferior version of the game to play, I wouldn't just so callously discard it either. It's important to remember where we came from and how things have changed. If you were a kid in the 90s playing it you'd probably dig it and that's what really matters, the game at the time it was release. So dance crazy and remember.
>>12546751my dude, we live in a time where these kids unironically say shit like>Mario 3 is so overrated. You know what's actually great? Sonic '06.
reminder that the OST mod for PSP cannot actually restore all 136 tracks because the PSP version lacks the scripting triggers to accommodate all the tracks.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJfIFzAKR7khttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gALwHR3eBy0https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4ECY5Cd9JQhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDNc0XKkg8Uhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNV5zBxV-lQhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcJxrgrNNv0https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGqoPQZyUsk
>>12546821I was a teen and liked it, I still like it and think many of the changes make sense, like Mark. They localized it so you're supposed to be going to an American high-school in a US city. The PSP version is more accurate to the original, but I don't think that's always better. Also the new world map really does suck. The old one had such charm even if there wasn't much to it, it felt like traveling through a city.
>>12548026i was so disappointed they didn't keep the OG summoning sound.
>>12547449It's a less than ideal fix and it's really unfortunate but I'll still have something over nothing. God loosing Elly's theme is just tragic.
>>12547449Not having the first one you posted "Awakening" should be punished by death. Not even complaining about the mod. Just the team who did the psp remake thinking "yeah we can chuck this one out". What a bunch of fags, and I enjoyed the PSP remake.
>>12548478I think the original composer died pretty close to the release of the game too. It was a massive disrespect all around.
>>12548189>>12548478i guess i don't "hate" every nuMeguro track, but the remake lost so much soul by tossing out the mid '90s house/techno sound, the 3D overworld with scripted traffic that obeys traffic lights, the sound effects, so many touches.it seems like the ideal option would be to find a translation patch for the JP PS1 version, just for Snow Queen, but i think that project was abandoned.
>>12548493It's not really an argument of musical quality, the issue is that Persona 1 has very deliberate pace and mood going for it that the new music is in, almost deliberate, contrast of. Persona 1 is not Persona 3 or 4, it's not even Persona 2.
>>12548498i miss '97.everyone raves about '98, and yeah, it was great.but i was always fond of '97.'98 was the payoff, but '97 was the buildup.
>>12548508Hell I'll take 96. PS1 is in full swing, and things are looking mighty fine.
>>12548510i wouldn't want to go without Wild Arms, SotN, BoF3, Oddworld, Clock Tower, FF7 of course, Bushido Blade, Time Crisis, TR2.i got my PS in late '96.
There's a manga that makes for pretty fun reading.
I miss when other characters could change personas and there wasn't the special snowflake wild card.
>>12548769The reason why I dropped Persona 3 20 hours in, I'm not going to see my party use the same personas the whole fucking game, boring as fuck
>>12548489That precisely could explain why they changed the music. When a musician dies, there could be a lapse of time during which it is decided which descendant should be transfered his rights.
I wish we had a translation of the japanese version of Persona 1.That would end the fucking PSP vs PS1 debate.
>>12549302Who are you kidding, even if that existed some people who still tell everyone to play the PSP version. Handheld ports are worse than cancer, at least cancer isn't contegious.
>>12547449>>12548189>>12548478old news faggotsthe OST patch was finished a couple of years ago
