who had better games?
>>
For some reason 6th gen western edgy mascots depress me
>>
>>12545304
These boys.
>>
Ratchet and it's not even close
>>
>>12545304
They're all just a poor man's Shadow.
>>
>>12545304
Sly > Ratchet >>>>> Daxter
>>
>>12545304
I hate how platforming just kind of died in 6th gen and got converted into what are basically 3rd person action shooters.
>>
>>12545304
Ratchet is better on average
Sly is designed with innate understanding of player psychology and actively pushes the player in ways the other two don't, feels great to play.
Jak is for the streets (Mariogroids)
>>
>>12545492
There were loads of platformers of all kinds at the time.
>>
>>12545304
Sly by far

It's ironic that all of these franchises, save for Ratchet & Clank just barely holding on, died since the devs wanted to make realistic movie games. But now that the phase of cutscene-heavy movie games ended, people once again want video games with stylized artstyles, in some fantasy kitchen sink setting, with gameplay as the main focus. These franchises might have been as big as Resident Evil or Final Fantasy in the gaming industry if they were never abandoned.

Sad and bleak way of looking at things. Sometimes things are done anon, not every work of entertainment needs endless sequels and spinoffs. They're inanimate things, they can't live or die.
>>
>>12545958
>jak has an entire trilogy on the ps2
>kino racing spinoff epilogue game
>kino psp spinoff
>shitty psp spinoff
i don't like how faggy and samey sony's recent first part output is either, but most of their old ips felt 'complete' to me
>>
>>12545304
Ratchet probably, but Jak deserves credit for its style and ambition and Sly deserves credit for its consistency.
>>
>>12546284
That's a problem too though. Sony blows their load too early with certain franchises whereas Mario is reasonably spread out to one mainline game per system.
>>
>>12545304
Ratchet > Sly >>>>>>>>Jak
>>
>>12545304
Sly > Ratchet/Jak
All three series are great, though.
>>
all the ps2 Ratchet & Clank games are great
Sly and Jak ones are just alright
I'm saying this as someone who never had a playstation growing up so I have no nostalgia glasses for any of them
>>
>>12545304
R&C
>>
Sly (if it didn't have mini games) > ratchet > sly with minigames > jak
>>
>>12545958
the concept art for Jak 4 still haunts me
>>
>>12545304
Ratchet > Sly > Jak

2>1>3 for Ratchet
2>3>1 for Jak and Sly
>>
>>12545485
it's sad how one of the worst Sonic games still mogs your average scrimblo's best
>>
>>12545492
>>12545778
Platformers are fundamentally primitive gameplay.

The genre evolved in two different ways: Portal (dead end) and Prince Of Persia (parkourlikes)
>>
All the Ratchet games are great
Jak 1 is the only good Jak
Sly 2 is the only good Sly
>>
>>12545309
They're very sterile and corporate, nothing really unique about them. They maybe remind you of a time where things seemed new and fresh. There's nothing really that edgy about banjo kazooie banter but you shoot things despite what the marketing is trying to make you believe. There's a reason these characters mostly died off.
