I think we can all agree Konami was great from its inception to somewhere around halfway through the PS2 era. You'd be hard pressed to find another gaming company with that track record, for the most part it really was hit after hit and a lot of their stuff was pretty ground breaking. I still think overall they were the best there ever was and it's inconceivable to me that they just gave up after a certain point for no discernible reason.

But being on a "retro gaming" place I know that's not what you're thinking of. Also Metal Gear and maybe Tokimeki Memorial, I guess?Everything else I can think of that they did and was popular just followed what was already popular. Silent Hill is Resident Evil, Castlevania is Ghost'n' Goblins, and all the smaller series just followed the trends

probably the second best ps1 dev besides square. though you can definitely argue namco was better, I personally wouldnt. capcom was great too but I'd give them 4th place.

I can't believe noone's said it yet but Chronicles is not a PSX (the fact that OP called it a PS1 is how you can tell he wasn't alive back then) game. It's an X68000 game from 1993, and if you absolutely have to categorize it by "generations" that would be 4th gen. The PSX version is a gimped port with glitches because IGA couldn't even port a game right.
