Masterpiece
>>12546881Better than x1 for sure
>hold right to win*yawn*
A bit too easy imoI liked X better, first one was perfectly balanced
>>12548036X was definitely easier
>>12548051Weird, I'd swear it's the other way aroundNow that I think about it, I discovered the game playing them back to back, so maybe X felt rough as an introduction to the series, while I started X2 with sharpened reflexes. The fact that X3 felt so fucking hard sort of invalidates this theory though
>>12548061X3 has a balance problem. Contact damage too high, and the arm upgrade actually makes the game harder.
>>12548083Sigma 3, too
>>12547829It's a fantastic game but hell no. They removed the variable stage gimmick from X1, the guitar sample is worse and the weapons aren't as good. I still appreciate how fast the game is though, but it just felt like a filler entry rather than a genuine improvement on the formula.
>>12546881Masterpiece? More like master-piece a shit
>>12548083>>12548061X3 was probably the easiest if you play with an item guide like these dogshit games seem balanced around. The damage values are wonky but none of the stages or bosses are particularly hard with the upgrades
Now it's as good as time as ever - do you guys change your binds when playing megaman X[n]?Been playing like this for years
>>12548739I bind dash to R and have weapon swapping on X and A. I still have Fire on Y. My left finger just can't rapid fire fast enough and dashing on L just doesn't feel right.
>>12548760You can use your index and middle fingers to quickly tap L - hold the underside with your thumb and hammer awayi picked that up on my guitar hero addictionThe only catch is, d-pad will be inaccesible while you're doing this
>>12548083Yeah, I've found the optimal setup is to get all the armor parts except the arm and grab either the leg or armor chip. Not only do you avoid the suckage of the arm upgrade, but it even makes the Z-saber a lot faster to charge and use, though it does mean you have to hit with it at melee range.
>>12548760That's exactly my binds too
>>12548739I use a separate core (snes9x) instead of usual bsnes for all platformers/run n guns/whateverthat involve jumping and attacking, with a control scheme that's rotated anti-clockwise 1 step, so that A is jump and B is attack
>>12548816Unfortunately the arm upgrade is mandatory for some of the collectables that require the charged black hole and thunder.
What's to love about X2 is how flexible it is. To this day it's the only game in the series where you can collect every upgrade with no backtracking, in several different orders even, and that's because there are different ways to each one, either with wire/charged fire weapon/midair dash or the esoteric abusing of physics, invincibility or frame perfect execution. One of the biggest let downs of X3 was how rigid it is in comparison, unnecessarily so. Why force you to find the basic ride armor to let you use the other ones?
>>12548083Fuck, X3 was my first megaman game after avoiding this franchise for so long because of the billion gazillion gamesI wondered if i was a shitter or the game was genuinely hard. But after beating it and trying a guide, yeah. It's like he said >>12548715I already knew there was some stage-order shenanigans, but i went in blind.I saw that portrait and i thought: okay, this looks like fucking cell, there's no way this is the first boss. It's the last one i should goIt turns out that was my only correct guess, i got the orders all fucking wrong lmao
>>12548739I would remap Previous Wep to X mainly because it feels wrong for a game called Mega Man X not to use the X button, but also because it would be easier to switch back to the X Buster by pressing X and A together rather than Y and A and get an accidental Jump button. That's just my two cents though
>>12549805I should probably follow your advice, it indeed feels more naturalWhat do i do with Y? Is this megaman XX?
Such a shame X2 didn't have an alternate ending. Collecting the Zero parts ulimately not mattering beyond letting you skip a boss fight was so lame.
>>12548931Agreed. To this day I refuse to get the arm upgrade with the air dash. I've gotten sloppy at getting it without the wire though, definitely feels easier on original hardware than any of the ports.>Why force you to find the basic ride armor to let you use the other ones? Its basically the>You have to do Chill Penguin first because bootsall over again.
As someone who played the series for the first time as an adult and that was completely blown away by X1, X2 felt like a perfected continuation.Just bonafide peak 90s Capcom
