>>12549638MK lore is hot garbage. The art direction and character designs of MK2 & UMK3 are fucking top notch tho. The levels from MK2 are timeless classics, and the character designs from UMK3 are the most memorable. MK wasn't the goriest, fastest, or even the best graphics-wise. Killer Instinct had cool pre-rendered graphics, but UMK3 ate their lunch despite still being digitized actors. KI2 couldn't even compete with UMK3.
MK has always been terrible gameplay wise. You play it for the gore.

IS it though? I remember the MK series being pretty fun, but you mostly came for the gore, maybe stayed for the goofy characters. I don't remember the actual fighting engine being particularly good.
