Not much known yet. Probably emulation based.
The machine comes with 40 games and uses a 19" LCD.
This thing looks like an abomination that doesn't know what it's supposed to be. -It has a Japanese lever, but the lever has a shaft cover on it, which the style of MVS control panel they're using never had. The shaft cover is black, while LS-40s traditionally had red shaft covers. It's almost certainly not an LS-40. -The buttons are western style, even though the artwork and lever are Japanese looking.-It has the art of a removable Japanese MVS control panel, but it's a fake. You can't take it off. -I'm pretty sure the screen is 5:4 aspect ratio.I will give them kudos for using the four button layout.
Would have been slightly interested if it was like the AES+ and actually took MVS carts.
>more 3/4 cab nonsensejfc did NO ONE learn from arcade1up or unico? When are these people gonna learn nobody wants to play multiplayer on those cramped control panels, at least make the panels wider
>>12548009I bet this thing was planned before the AES+ announcement and now it looks pretty stupid.
>>12548010Someone should make a panel like this, but its actually two pieces that detach from the main unit and seperate and then each player has an arcade stick sits on their lap or table.
The people who make these things just keep fucking up. They just won't do the research into what people really want out of the products and they always try to cut corners they shouldn't cut.
Still buying one and the AES+Problem, ResetEra?
>>12548030This one should have a coin mechanism of some kind, even if a totally fake one. The expense is next to nothing. Literally just a hole, one cheap piece of plastic chute, and a vending machine microswitch. It would be like a dollar of extra manufacturing cost.
>>12548040If toy coin banks can do it, so can toy arcade machine vendors.
>>12548005>The buttons are western stylechinese knockoff style, actually>I'm pretty sure the screen is 5:4 aspect ratioFor some strange reason getting readily available 4:3 LCDs in this day and age is almost next to impossible without getting a brand new one designed and manufactured which always leads to a big price bumpFrom what I can tell BlazePro is a chinese company that used to make bootleg arcade stuff, I guess now they're stepping into officially licensed bootlegs. Looks like it's pretty low quality. And yeah, the panel not being removable is one thing, but the bigger issue is that the panel most likely uses cheap vinyl that won't endure people moving their hands all over the controls. Arcade1up learned their lesson real quick and started using plexi overlays to protect them, and even offered previous owners who damaged theirs free replacement panels and plexi covers. Unico had them on the msvx from day 1. This? I've got a bad feeling.
>>12547987Not having black rims on the buttons is a sign that they don't give a fuck. It wouldn't cost them a penny more to have the right color combo. They just don't care.
>>12548060Chinese knock-offs of western buttons, then. But yeah they'll probably use those same crappy clicky switches found in all the arcade1up machines.
>>12548009An MVS+ is definitely in the cards once AES+ sales start to decline.
Vastly inferior to pic related style of set-up.
>>12548093I got a 21" CRT for horis, 20" for verticals and a supergun that's basically my set up
>>12548093I prefer this style with a huge CRT pushed back a little bit. I also place weights on my table give it a little more stability.
>>12548023It's a good idea and I've even seen some homemade cabs do this, but at the same time it kinda defeats the purpose of playing on a home cab as opposed to playing on something you plug into your TV. It'd really be better just to have a full size control panel. It would also mitigate the issue of the sides of the cab covering the edge of the control panel instead of the panel being placed on top of the frame. And maybe just add USB ports that take xinput controllers.>>12548093>>12548104take your slop elsewhere
>>12548060>BlazePro is a chinese companyThat makes more sense. I mixed them up with Britbong BLAZE since they have distributed AtGames' crap in the past.I don't know how well they would do at a MVS cab but their Evercade Alphas are pretty nice.
>>12548127>Britbong BLAZEWait they are still around?
>>12548128Yeah, they've found their own niche in the past few years with the Evercade platform.
>>12548136Don't think anybody own one but what about the alpha? Looks like the only "arcade at home" that actually makes sense consider you can buy more games for it
>>12549116This thing? This is not the "arcade at home" experience.>$279.99For that price you can buy a top-level arcade stick from Qanba, Hori, or Mayflash and fully customize it with your own art and buttons. And then set it on a table in front of a monitor or television. That will be a lot closer to playing on a real arcade machine.
>>12549604I'm guessing the emulation is not very good then.I struggle to find an audience for evercade products outside of turbo nerds that refuses to play any games unless they own a cartridge
>>12549779It's not about the emulation, it's about the form factor of the thing. That "bartop" is nothing like an actual arcade machine. >I struggle to find an audience for evercade products outside of turbo nerds that refuses to play any games unless they own a cartridgeThat is the entire audience for Evercade.
>>12549796I only played a few times (like 4) on an actual arcade machine and twice on an arcade 1up so I don't she the big issue. The price of the alpha is stupid but I rather buy one over an arcade 1up... Or like you said and find a cheap PC (I think even a tablet works) and a nice arcade stick and call it a day .
>>12549779I was the market for Evercade, because i liked the idea of a plug n play you could get carts for and also at one time the company mused at allowing completely original games to be made for it and development kits for it. However i then found out they used really cheap quality flash memory for the carts and that killed like 90% of my interests, which is a shame because i do honestly like a lot of the stuff they put out like homebrew game comps and obscure arcade producers catalogs that never got home collections or ports, plus the potential of it being an alternate platform to make new games on seemed tantalizing.
>>12549796>That "bartop" is nothing like an actual arcade machine. Well no duh, if you placed a regular arcade cabinet on a table it'd be pretty hard to reach the controls. Here's an official bartop cabinet made by bamco themselves
>>12549903I wonder how big is the failure rate. I think it's neat but honestly I tempted to buy one just to consume more product, if I buy an EXP it's only going to collect dust in a drawer or something
>>12547957I actually have the older MVSX. It's pretty nice even if it is clearly emulation. Especially once you had the hylo mod. I can't see any reason to get this version, the more traditional button layout is nice but won't make for a good mod.
>>12550212Well i can tell you from first hand experience, i bought one on sale with the MegaKat studios cart and one of the games didn't even boot up on it, so i was maybe extremely unlucky, but it left a bad taste in my mouth and i read on discussions from others that similar issues have occurred for them. Possibly the failure rate was more so for the earlier releases.
>>12550247That fucking sucks. Guess I can wait until there is a cart I really REALLY want or something. I know it kind of defeats the purpose but a digital store might help with those cases.
>>12550187That one is also garbage and nothing like an actual, original bartop arcade cabinet.
>>12550420could you show me what a real bartop cabinet looks like
>>12550420Here is a real bartop to give you an idea of what their dimensions are supposed to be like.
>>12550431I'm gonna be honest I'm glad they don't use these designs anymoreNot even trying to be contrarian, these things are just bland as hell
>>12550431>>12550467I would give up some of my foreskin to own either of those.
>>12550662Considering that these are just how "modern" bartops are but with more junk in the trunk you could probably modify a pre-existing design, cut off the marquee and source a small crt for it
>>12551097I would like to make some bar tops some day since i have plenty of spare tiny crts and a bunch of loose arcade pcbs that need homes.
