What went wrong?
You're awful, OP.
>>12551117Your life.
>>12551117didn't have sonic in it
>>12551117It's a downgrade in every way from Zelda 1. ALTTP is the true sequel to Zelda 1.>jarpiggy grinding crap in an action game>this jarpiggy grinding crap leads to MASSIVE power differences>where just a couple levels (few minutes of grinding) makes you literally TWICE as strong>instead of actually adventuring and finding gear that gives you a satisfying power increase, you.... just farm the same trashmob 200x and congrats you got the master sword now!!!>trashmobs can take 10+ hits to die and one shot you, or die in one hit and need 10+ hits to kill you purely depending on your jarpiggy grinding level>shitty, broken hitboxes for numerous enemies>tiny little dagger sword that jabs 3 inches in front of Link>combat is massively dumbed down as you only have left/right to move instead of all four directions, and most fights are now just 1v1 instead of vs multiple enemies; nothing better exemplifies this than the shitty final boss where you sit in a corner the whole time>downward stab attack is insanely OP against every enemy it works against (or you can just jump right past them)>magic system that encourages just ignoring enemies>generic recolored dungeons Zelda 2's combat is just fucking shit. Jarpiggy crap has no place in an action game, and even by jarpiggy standards, it's embarrassingly balanced and extremely poorly implemented
>>12551117It would be a good game with more generous continues. Or if I played with save states.
>>12551117Nothing, it's the best Zelda game
>>12551117Nothing, it's one of the best-selling games on the system.butcher and behead all jeet zoomer contrarian thread dipshits
>>12551186Imagine some underage retard actually expending this much effort to write all that nonsense out. You were simply filtered by an incredible beloved well-selling game.
>>12551117Not really that much? Some aspects are maybe a bit rough, but it's a good game.Sold and reviewed well enough to give use ALTTP and LA, so clearly people agree, and it had great payoff even if you didn't like this one.>>12551186Awful post, you need to go back to /v/.
>>12551117Still in the "throw everything at the wall and see what sticks" phase.
>>12551117What went wrong is that they shouldn't have called it Zelda II. Just treat it like a spinoff instead of a sequel. Do that and there, it's automatically a great game.
>>12551186>shitty, broken hitboxes for numerous enemiesThis is the reason that I haven't been able to enjoy this game. For all the shit people gave to Simon's Quest. CV2 does the Action RPG combat way better than Z2. And it's actually fun to play.
>>12551117This game is too much for the normalfag, an excellent pleb filter
>>12551117Nothing much, it's a great game.
>>12551528I beat it on original hardware. It's the complete opposite. The "challenge" is almost entirely the obtuse progression and being underleveled. The combat is unforgiving with a moderately high skill floor but very low skill ceiling; it's extremely shallow once you learn the basics. There is only one of like four tactics that you will use for every given enemy in the game, and they all require very low execution skill, so combat becomes very formulaic. And since every combat encounter is such a segmented 1v1 with little consideration for other enemies or the environment, you will never have to deviate from those tactics and will rarely ever face unique and dynamic situations. Not to mention bosses are pushovers with very limited and predictable movesets, and the magic system encourages you to use fairy magic to skip and completely bypass huge portions of levels. It also has basically no replay value as the combat is so shallow and one-dimensional with no other difficulty modes, builds, playstyles, or Second Quest
>>12551772True to an extent, but mostly just because the Zelda series is held to a far higher standard, rather than its failure to conform to some norm. Zelda 1 would still be the far superior game either way, but think of something like Crystalis, it's given more leeway since it's just some random one-off hidden gem instead of a mainline game in a major respected series.
I just don't like the combat. Zelda 1 felt super satisfying dealing with multiple enemies at once, avoiding hazards, prioritizing different enemies and focusing on spacing. Then Zelda 2 comes along and is just standard boring side-scroller shit, you have a little tiny wimpy sword, you only really ever fight one enemy at a time, most enemies can just be jumped over or bypassed, the hitboxes can be pretty awful at times, and they have the forced RPG mechanics now where you have to focus on staying at the exact right level to not make the game too easy or too hard. Also Zelda 1 had way more satisfying exploration, you could actually discover items and upgrades, you could actually buy shit, it felt satisfying finding hidden shops and rupees and shit, meanwhile Zelda 2 is just endless mindless farming of enemies. Genuinely I think it requires a certain type of NPC/low functioning autism mindset to be able to enjoy Zelda 2, meanwhile Zelda 1 just has such an incredible sense of adventure and discovery combined with simple, but very intuitive and challenging combat system.
>>12551772This. Even Miyamoto thinks so.https://nintendoeverything.com/miyamoto-felt-zelda-2-was-sort-of-a-failure-nintendo-saw-link-to-the-past-as-zeldas-real-sequel/He basically handed the design docs over to a separate development team and they followed it to a t rather than coming up with derivative creative ideas during development like every other Zelda game.
>>12551117Absolutely nothing.
>>12551117End yourself for this weekly Zelda 2 thread.Picrel is getting boring
