What's the worst 3d platformer?
>we need a new mario game>I don’t want to design 50 levels though>design 15 levels instead>make the player complete each level 6 times>15 levels x 6 plays = 90 levelsProblem gamers?

>>12555340not Bubsy 3D, it was at least an honest attempt at 3D platforming when nothing else had defined what that should be like
>>12555396I've heard the devs went on to make TPS games, so it's good that they learned.
>>12555374>So, we can design a well balanced console with developer friendly features, all we need to->IS IT MORE THAN 16-BIT?>well, sir... we've been thinkin more in terms of->MAKE IT 32-BIT AND DOUBLE IT>please, with all due respe->64 DO THE MATH, 4 TIMES THE SIZE, 4 TIMES THE GOOD. DO IT. BIG NUMBER GOOD.
>>12555467The Konix Multisystem was just as much of a nightmare, and that thing never got released. (The Jaguar was its spiritual successor, believe it or not!)
>>12555340Rascal was worse in pretty much every way, especially considering it was released 2 years after SM64. Rascal is probably the worst game I ever played for that matter.
>>12555491One of the developers of that game made a video explaining why the game is so awful, basically the game was designed around Mario 64 style controls but the published forced them to make the game with tomboy raider style controls which fucked up everything

>>12555469A tragic tale as old as time - narrowly focusing on one specific quantifiable thing and missing the bigger picture. And yet, it's the prevalent paradigm
>>12555374>What is this? I have to... re-enter a level?>Nooooo my dopamine receptors!! They are resting nooooo!!!fag
>>12555467Wasn't there a 16 bit chip on the board that most devs ended up using instead of either 32 bit core?
>>12555689Yep, m68k to be precise. (It's why 75% of the library was underbaked Amiga > Jaguar ports.)
>>12555340Sonic obviously.
>>12555340When i was a kid the only game we had was bubsy 3d and i learned to enjoy it. I'd beg my dad for mario or sonic and he'd hit me, he'd deliver a beating, I'd be "sick" from school until the bruises went away so the teachers wouldn't notice. He would pace around the house saying bubsy bubsy. Anyway he's a millionaire now and I'm living in section 8 housing.
>>12555374What's the issue? Fully 3d worlds give you much more to explore and interact with when compared to 2d ones like SMW where maybe you had a secret exit to another area or even 2.5d ones like Crash where you simply had to perfect a level or find a gem to replay another level you were not allowed to perfect initially.

>>12556504dude sounds genuinly sad and dissapointed about the game being a piece of shit
>>12555689It was a technical mess all over the place. Even on nerdy spaces people still get a lot of things wrong about. If you want more details, check herehttps://www.hillsoftware.com/files/atari/jaguar/jag_v8.pdfUp to page 8 i think that's about the quick rundown of the technical aspects of that system
>>12556504This guy. He had an interesting channel about 90s gamedev I was subscribed to. And then out of nowhere he dropped that terrible Funko Pop game and that was the end of it.There's no coming back from that.
>>12558404>out of nowhere he dropped that terrible Funko Pop gameNot exactly, there was a Polygon article the year prior that... well, let's just say gave more perspective on what Jon Burton's really like. (I remember when that teaser first dropped, the guy was deleting comments mentioning that article.)https://www.polygon.com/features/22891555/lego-star-wars-the-skywalker-saga-has-led-to-extensive-crunch-at-tt-games/
