How do i get into StarFox?
Just fucking play it.If you don't like it, try 64.If you don't like it, try getting really really drunk.
URBLE WING DAM-
Snes then 64 then 643D then Zero then Switch 2. Ignore the rest
>>12555775>>>/v/>>12555752Play SNES, then 64, then Adventures, then Assault and ignore all the rest. Starfox 2 and everything else is just fanfiction.
>>12555752Play 64, the snes game is cool but even as a fan of the series for over 30 years the graphics are nauseating. Super fucking impressive for the time but man it can be a struggle to play it. Still a really fun game and you should play it but if you don't like 64 you probably wont like the rest if the series. Maybe dinosaur planet that hardly counts and is closer to zelda than star fox.
>>12555805i agree with this. just play the 64 game and move on with your life. it completely obsoleted the snes game and the rest of the series is just gay as fuck
>>12555808I pretty much agree with that.Though, if you CAN handle the choppy graphics of the OG, there's beauty in there. The music, the tone, the stars flying by like a Win95 screensaver, it's got a feeling in there you can't get elsewhere. I haven't been able to play it since the N64 came out, but I had a great time with it.Gotta get to the secret psychedelic level with the slot machine in space at least once lol.
>>12555805just play the fastrom version>the old graphics are nauseating : (get off my board filthy casual faggot
>>12555805>>12555808>>12555820Why do people like this on /vr/ exist?
>>12555823I still have my original SNES cart I got new in childhood. Can you say the same, imperial?I'm first post, I said to try the original first.I loved this game as a kid, I grew up on Apple IIGS, I know choppy graphics, but it is very difficult to replay in current year. I've already played it many times, I probably won't replay it, but I recommend people try it first.
>>12555823>mom! theyre criticizing nintendo again!
>>12555831Why are snoys so obsessed?
In the '90s, console wars were just fighting for what your mom bought you. It's not something to romanticize. Retro games are free.
>>12555752Play it
>>12555829>Can you say the same, imperial?Yes, and a CRT
What we really need is the first two Star Fox games with the gamespeed decoupled from the framerate. Also, what did they do to their legs.... Now it looks like only Slippy is the member with normal feet.
>>12555752Nintendo online service has all the star fox games you need to begin with
>>12555752>How do i get into StarFox?same as any other hole i would think
Star Fox 2 is based and fun
>>12555768>If you don't like it, try getting really really drunk.WTF, dude?
>>12556496Everything feels more fun when you're on drugs. That being said, I don't usually play action games when drunk/high, mostly just RPGs and occasionally casual rounds of MOBAs
>>12555768>just play itThis, everything past this reply is a waste of time
>>12555772
>>12555752Just play Starfox 64, but you need to play it on a CRT TV or emulator with a real N64 controller.
>>12555821>fastromThis has to be a meme the difference is barely perceptible
>>12556528>Everything feels more fun when you're on drugs. What the fuck...
>>12555752Start with Space Harrier, Afterburner, Galaxy Force, Thunder Blade, Burning Force, Panorama Cotton, Wing War, Panzer Dragoon and Sin and Punishment. Those are my favorite Starfox games.
LYLAT WARS, GUVNA
>>12555805i like the snes one more, 64 felt like it lost something interesting with the changes to graphics and voices
>>12555768can I do the drunk part first?
If you're legit new to the franchise and don't know what it's about, just wait for the remake
>>12556528https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8M8I2SYEiA
>>12557978Maybe. But I would wait for reviews to come in first, the art-direction looks like AI-generated ass.Start with Star Fox 64 regardless, 3D if that's available to you since it made level replays more accessible. If you like the single player, move on to SNES; if multiplayer is your bag, Assault. The rest of the series is experimental and mileage will vary depending on your tastes.
I love the new artstyle. Its the perfect modernization of the puppet promo pics. Zero and 643D were both 3rd party games so it makes sense that a they just copied the GameCube artstyle. A new first party project with a big power jump means they can finally replicate the Yamazaki designs like they always intended.
>>12555752I loved Star Fox and Star Wars so much, that I wrote a Star Fox Star Wars crossover fanfiction for school when I was 9 years old, lmaoIt was basically A New Hope but with Star Fox characters
>>12555768If im getting drunk i better be at a club anon
The SNES original is pretty short to just play through once, so why not? Yeah, it doesn't hold up the best, but it's still fun enough, and if you're trying to "get into" a series as a form of artistic appreciation, you should start with the original.
>>12555843>if you criticize nintendo, then you're a snoy!!sure, tendie
Why was Assault so hated, or was it ignored? Watching a playthrough now and it looks pretty good.
>>12559924I'm that anon, I only drink alone. I'd do adderall in a club, maybe a few drinks. I'm over a pint deep of 40% right now and I would not do that around other people.I'm drunk as shit right now, I played "path 1" of SNES starfox this afternoon while drinking. Was a good time still drinking, 13 hours after opening this 24pk of 9.2%s. This game is as good as I remember it, or better. I could handle the choppiness just fine.
>>12559939The on-foot missions kinda sucked, iirc But Arwing missions were decent
>>12555752you need a going into games machine
>>12560173You’re right, I got further into razorfists play through last night and while the arwing stuff is great the on foot levels are pretty boring and there’s a lot of it. If it had just been Star Fox meets rogue squadron w Namcos famous style then it would’ve been much better received. Still, the game looks visually impressive (the space battles especially) even compared to the new Star Fox remake video we’ve seen. For some stupid reason the game is 150 dollars, it was said during stream it bombed and only sold 200k copies but it got a players choice re release which I thought was reserved for a much higher sale rate unless they did it just to try and sell more copies. Guess I’ll look up its sales
>>12560289Just checked and according to the stats online it sold half a million copies just in America. I mean that’s not super great but maybe shoehorning in Fox into dinosaur adventures probably hurt it as much as the on foot levels. It sold about the same as rogue squadron 3 which also had on foot lvls iirc, some dumb ass decision for rail/space shooters to go and I think that really cost them in sales. Game still looks like a lot of fun and I’m not sure why I dropped it so hard back in the day. I guess, at the time, I was just really pissed off we weren’t getting a strictly space combat game and this trend of inserting on foot missions in these games probably irritated me and we had so much to choose from. Looking back now tho, the game is pretty fantastic graphically and the space battles are like a Gundam show or movie come to life (which makes sense as it was Namco) and despite all the sudden Star Fox craze because of the remake, I wish I still had my copy. Now it’s insanely priced so emulation ftw but it would just feel better on my GameCube w a controller but it’s whatever. I can see why I hated it on release but yeah, looks like a solid fun game and the graphics have really held up just like rogue squadron 2. Those games have really REALLY held up graphically.
