Is this a good way to experience /vr/ Atari games and learn about history of Atari?
>>12556839Yeah, it's also the best way to play Tempest 2000. I like the interviews too.
What kind of idiot buys roms?

>While there are moments in the interviews from the Atari Shock era where they lighten the mood with jokes , the content is overwhelmingly filled with regret and frustration from that time . For some reason, the creators' expressions seem somewhat sad only during this footage, and a somber mood permeates the entire thing. In fact, it's the kind of thing where they "can't cope without making light of it," which makes it incredibly difficult to listen to . But sadly, this is a tragedy that actually happened in the game industry, a negative history that cannot be ignored . Perhaps the greatest appeal of this work is that we can learn about this history from the voices of those who actually experienced it .https://monozukigame.hatenadiary.com/entry/2022/12/11/100000
>>12556861You don’t really think downloading roms is stealing. You’re just pretending to be retarded.
>>12556839no, there are vast amounts of the good games missing
>>12556839its showing for the atari 8-bit computers is pathetic, its almost entirely 2600 games
>>12556839Yeah
>>12556843Nintoddlers literally line up for midnight releases of rom packs
>>12556843it's OK some of the stuff in there was on floppy disk
>>12556885>atari 8-bit computers is patheticYes.
>>12556839You can just watch the interviews and stuff on Youtube.
>>12556839If you're like me and don't find Atari games very interesting or playable, Atari 50 is a great vehicle to get you to appreciate them more. The timeline approach is really cool, you watch a video and get the history of a game, often times directly from the guys who made them back in the 70s and early 80s, check out some cool high quality behind the scenes photos and art scans and other materials, and then you play the game you just spent the past 10 minutes learning about. Now that you have all of the possible context for these prehistoric games you can appreciate them a lot more, at least I can. It's absolutely genius and the new gold standard for how these retro collections should be. It's also a pretty decent deal in general, it goes on sale for like $30 pretty often and has like 150 games from every Atari platform. Can't recommend it enough.
>>12556839WATCH OUT PEOPLE: Australia has warned us these games have "mild themes". Big yikes. Not looking to get traumatized today.
>>12556884From the expanded edition?
