I'm interested in playing Final Fantasy 3 but I'm not sure what version to play. I'm mainly learning towards the 3D remake on the DS/PC. How does this version compare? Is it a faithful remake?

>>12557242The 3D remake is pretty much a different game. It's far more difficult and often unfairly so. Bosses read your inputs and can attack multiple times in a row, and even regular enemies juiced to the gills to compensate for the fact that there can only be 3 enemies on-screen at once due to the limitations of the DS hardware, versus 10 in the original. The last dungeon is also several hours long and has no save points. On top of all that it's also much slower-paced and grindier than the other versions. It's just generally not a very fun game to play, but if you like grinding then maybe you'll find value in it.

>>12557242I've played a rom of the NES version and the DS remake and honestly prefer the remake, but both are good and quiet different. Either way you're in for a great ride, FF3 rocks.

>>12557242The NES version is amazing and I think even people that are hesitant to play a pre-SNES JRPG will be surprised at how good NES 3 is. Aside from enemies nuking you when you try to escape, my only real complaint. The DS version rarely ever has more than 2 enemies on screen and has me going "how much fucking health do you have" every boss fight, it's just not fun to me.
