Wtf am I supposed to do here? Miyamoto is a hack!
>>12557282Wait for the opportune moment to run under.
>I outrank you, in this scenario!
Just use rewind
>>12557282what shader is this ?
>>12557287It sounds so easy on paper.
>>12557362it's easy in practice, too. the hammer's are spaced out enough that you only really get hit by them if you're psyching yourself out.
Use the Force (save states)
>people think SMB1 is difficult
>>12557779inb4>how were you supposed to know where the power-ups are?
>>12557362It's the penultimate level of the game, it's not supposed to be easy.
>>12557783Post the one I made for level 5-2 of Vs. Super Mario Bros. I've lost it.
>>12557282Try the arcade version, it's fun.
>>12557783Simple, you use these Game Genie codes.>NPZENK>VGAAUK>OZAANG>PZAEUK>TZAENK>NPPAUK>VGPANK>OZPEUG>PZPENK>TZZAUK>NPZANK>TZZEUK>VKPAUK>TXAENK
>>12557814Agreed, I'm glad that not a single level was reused. Finding out the most unique levels (underwater and cheep cheep chase) were reused twice made me check it out. (Though, I also love SMB2J, which has some of these VS. levels.)
>>12557805This? You can do that with the pipe to cheese the 3rd grounded hammer bro in 8-3 too, but I didn't do that in the video since I didn't want to wait an eternity.
>>12557827That one. I found this one by another anon tho.
>>12557817That's neat. Also I never knew there was a top row of hidden blocks up here.
>>12557835I found out those hidden blocks entirely by accident LMAO. At first I was like>wtf, how tf did this get there???
>>12557779Hold run you slow faggot.
>>12557827What are you, a wheelchair bound grandpa?Step up nigga
>>12557282it's not even hardzelda 2 used basically this same mechanic
>>12557282I beat lost levels but never the original SMB1
>>12559092>sperg beating games in anger
>>12557832>>12557827>>12557814>>12557783>>12557779Nice TAS, faggots
>>12559137I wasn't angry though.
>>12557779>>12557783>that shimmeringFix your scaling
>>12557282For me it's panicking and eating shit once and lucking out the next time. I have no idea how they spawn or behave but I'm pretty sure it isn't RNG and they can be influenced somehow.
>>12557282It has timing and pattern after that is easy.... wait you learn the pattern in 3-1.
>>125572828-3 is easy because you can get fire power. It's the 8-4 hammer bros that's a dick, because you have to do >>12557783 if you get small before meeting him
>>12559291>some pixel perfect jumps>jittery dodging>frame-perfect tapsHuh... I wonder...Nah, probably just a really good gamer
>>12557282>can't use my brain to learn the pattern and timing. Are you retard?.
>>12560608yes
>>12560058That's not hard to do. The trick that everyone seems to miss is that you have to pay attention to what direction they are moving and run past when they are walking forward.
>>12557827everyone here probably already knows this, but in SMB1 and 2 hammer bros will start chasing you if you wait about 50 seconds while they're on screen. just throwing that out there for anyone browsing the thread for tips or whatever
>>12557282Why are you little?
>>12561996Because OP is a sad, strange little man.
tutorial if you need ithttps://youtu.be/hQUzC909PaE
>>12561762Nice, I'll pay attention to that next time. Do you also have to be moving a little to be pre-building speed before you make your move? I notice in like >>12557783 he's not just starting from a stop, he's already moving a bit before making the dash under the hammer bro.
>>12562019>americans look at mario and see a taco
>>12562089>Do you also have to be moving a little to be pre-building speed before you make your move?Yes, Mario has momentum in this game.
>>12557814This isn't even the hardest run of this level. This is one of the levels where if you get over a certain number of coins there will be a secret 1-up in the next world in 7-1. So you have to get almost all the coins in the level to get that. I think you can miss maybe 2-3.
>>12562089Being farther away and having a run up makes the timing less tight than if you are really close and are acceleration from a standstill. "Assume he will jump, start holding forward, and react by releasing the d-pad if he doesn't jump" is better than "Assume he won't jump, stand still, react to a jump by beginning to hold the d-pad." Not only does this mean you have more velocity once you're under him, but it also helps (me personally) as a psychological heuristic to react faster.
>Hammer bros will chase you if you wait 50 seconds with them on screenHolup what??? I have been beating this game in less than 10-12 minutes since like 1997 and I never knew that.
>>12560582>some pixel perfect jumps>jittery dodging>frame-perfect tapsMay I see it?
>>12562104lol
>>12557814How's the overall difficulty compared to SMB and SMB2JP?
>>12562232>Yes, Mario has momentum in this game.Of course, but I was wondering if it's necessary for timing it consistently, or if you can consistently time it from a standstill. >>12562336Thanks, that makes sense.
>>12564860It's more difficult than SMB, less difficult than SMB2J.
>>12557282It was apparently one of the last levels added to the game. Guess that's why "storm the caste grounds" feels unique.
>>12557282that one isn't even hard to get pastit's the very last one right before bowser that's a motherfucker
