I actually like this game.Like everyone else, I loved Mario in the 90's and this was one of the very few I didn't own. I never really rented games since I owned most of the good ones but this was always at the local video rental place down the street so I would rent it from time to time. Maybe it was because I never owned it and therefore never played it a ton but even just moving Yoshi around the Globularor was interesting to me as it looked like the world map from Super Mario World and knowing all of the levels were real places in the world was interesting and playing it at a very young age did increase my curiosity about the world and fostered my love of geography and history to this day.The music is also very relaxing and it is fun to see the different cultural remixes of the Super Mario World theme. This game actually has more variations of it than the original game. I still like to play through it from time to time on a Miyoo Mini absent mindedly while I half watch something. It is a relaxing, low stakes thing to do and just running around the world as Luigi is chill.It is very much a product of its time and while "edutainment" games are looked at as a stupid 1990's fad, a game like this is infinitely better than Leapfrog or whatever else came after it because it does actually feel like an actual video game instead of some computer/phone point and click thing.Mario's Time Machine, however, is genuinely awful. I tried to like it but could not.
