>Games where you couldn't get past the first stage as a kid
>>12557863Have you ever beaten the first level in that one? I did after years and years and what lies beyond is shocking. The entire rest of the game is just a bad platformer. The first level is the ONLY level in the game that's like that which means they did it on purpose and knew how bullshit it was. Why were Konami the only people willing to make a good Simpsons game?
I got beyond the first stage but I was filtered by the museum level. Never went beyond that.
As a kid, it took me until the second rental of Lion King and Earthworm Jim to beat the first levels. Didn't end up getting much further...

>>12557863Pretty much any dialogue-heavy game, because I didn't know English at the time.
>>12557863I remember renting this as a kid, seeing the intro FMV for each character and getting excited, only to get filtered by the first battle. Shit was not cash. And I played and loved Shining Force II as well.
>>12557863Played this on Sonic's Ultimate Genesis collection years ago and had no idea what the fuck to do, thought it was some kind of swimming simulator. Should play it again properly now that I'm aware that it's got aliens and shit.
>>12557863How about couldn't walk more than 20 feet? I eventually did go back 20 years later and beat the game
>>12557897That scream when you die
>>12557945Same
Just the first one? How about four?
>>12557890Same. My sister got to the museum level once, but we couldn't figure out how to get past the dinosaur. Turns out there are invisible platforms.
>>12558871The platforms aren't really invisible. The problem is the background's depth is confusing, and its perceived as far away rather than parallel to Bart.
obligatory
If you told me there were levels outside the house I would have never believed you
>>12558927Mr. Wilson's head superimposed on that sprite is almost as jarring as how he's animated and functions in the game.
>>12558946My first experience with horror in a video game
>>12557863space channel
>>12557863If it weren't for this magazine I'd have never beat the game
>>12558927>GET OUTTA HERE
>>12557945>>12558212We should be getting a collection later this year with all the Ecco games (barring the Dreamcast reboot) and an all-new one.
>>12559051Yeah, I've heard something about an Ecco website update. The most notable thing I've heard about DC Ecco was that it was composed by Tim Folin.
I rented this once. It opens with a 10 second platforming section, then changes into a side scrolling shooter stage that just goes on, and on, and on. I never saw the end of it.
>>12557890The museum stage was super weird and unsettling for me as a kid, the use of realistic encyclopedia illustration assets on a cartoon game really creates a weird contrast
>>12559385The opening theme for this cartoon had no right being so good
