December 1994, the PSX is released in Japan alongside a few games like Ridge Racer and Crime Crackers. This was a lot more mindblowing than fucking Demon's Crest which nobody cared for

Earthbound was 1995
Mother 2 was 1994.
These lists are always iffy depending on who you ask. Asking a person who was a gamer in 1994 what his favorite games were that year, there was no earthbound nor other games yet to be localized. he will lists games that he played, games that actually existed.
Asking a modern gamer about favorite year and its all japanaese dates from wiki pages, and relaiable emulators and fan patches have existed for their entire lives.
Both are technically correct, but it fucks up these lists.

Best year in gaming. No contest. For me anyway. Not just for the tippy top-tier stuff, but there were tons of fantastic B titles released on a weekly basis. As a kid who rented most of his games, I was completely spoiled that year.

Also other people appointed this out, but EB was only 1994 in Japan. Moreover, it feels very much like a 1995 game anyway.
