Was this the first time Nintendo players saw actual 3D outside of Pixar films, etc?

Define "Nintendo Players". I had an NES and SNES growing up. I also had personal computers and played plenty of 3D titles before you were born.. Am I a Nintendo Player, zoomzoom?

Depends on what you mean by Nintendo player. Like if they went to arcades there were some early 3D games including quite a few racing games like Virtua Racing and even space games like Starblade. On home computer Wolfenstein was also making a splash. Star Fox is definitely one of the earliest in the home true 3D games to be made widely available on an accessible platform though.
I guess little kids who didn't get out much or read magazines would have their minds blown if mom suddenly brought this home.

We had laserdiscs. Media used to be about amazing artwork paired with astonishing soundwork.

For me, one of the first '3D games' that I ever played was INDIANAPOLIS 500 .

or Hard Drivin':

I don't remember which one I played first. I remember hard Drivin' being touted as the most realistic driving game made up to that point. When Star Fox was released... it was impressive because it was running on the SNES. But at the same time I already have seen games like Virtua Racing in the arcades.

There is no such thing as "nintendo player" as you are imagining it. The "Nintendo players" still lived in the world and played their friend's games, arcade games, and saw commercials and read magazines for other company's games.

Tron was in theaters in 1982. Money For Nothing was on TV in 1985.

I'm certainly having a good time.

Star Fox came out before Toy Story

Pretty sure Star Fox 1 predates Toy Story.

Just stop liking this console already
