If you came across something EXTREMELY valuable and highly sought after by the community that has never seen the light of day until you stumbled on it, would you want it back after it's been dumped and preserved? Would you care at that point (the important thing was making sure it got preserved, you don't care about the cart itself)?

It's mine. i want it back. Make a trillion copies of it, but i want back what is mine, simple as that.

>would you want it back after it's been dumped and preserved?
Yes, because after it's been dumped I'm going to sell it.

>after it's been dumped and preserved?
That would never happen. I'd record myself smashing it with a sledgehammer.

Based Anon protecting the billion dollar corporation's intellectual property. You'd be a perfect Japanese citizen

privately dump the rom
sell the original to some fat hoarder
wait a few months
begin selling overpriced repros online
watch the fat hoarder have a public meltdown
>>
>>12560725
if i really needed money and it was valuable, i'd just sell it and ask the buyer if it could be dumped.
>>
>>12560774
This. Copy it, but i want my shit back later.
>>
>>12560725
Nigga, I'll fucking dump it myself and share it and not be a tranny!
>>
>>12560725
I would dump it myself since I'm not a retard.

>the community
fuck off it's a hobby
people only pretend there's a community when they want something that someone else has
>>

This

Who cares about that? 1000 nerds seething is more valuable than a couple fags playing it to say the music in stage 3 is slightly faster than the official release so the other 998 never have to actually play it. Really this stuff is just junk, there's a reason these games were either never released or were not released in the state they were in at that point in development.
>>
I upload a video of the gameplay and then get hounded by lostmedia trannies until finally dumping it just to shut them up.

Yes, why wouldn't I? Protos retain some of their value even after being dumped and shared, plus they're cool collectibles regardless.

I’d put it in my console and see what it is. Then I’d probably throw it away, people online suck I’m not letting them know I have it let alone sharing it.

This is the correct option. Sorry coomlector, but your unreleased alpha build SNES mahjong game is available for all the other (two) people who care.
>>
>>12560725
I'd just dump it myself

Based? Based on what?
>>
I would see if it works, then I would immediately sell it. Leave it up to the next owner if they want to dump it or not. I'd rather insure my children's future than please cutting room floor trannies and redditing collector faggots.

Do you think you're getting more for a cat in a bag or for a confirmed unique item?

Gaijin piggu should not share geemus. It's criminal.

With something like prototypes it really would depend. On the one hand people have unceremoniously sold unreleased games as, and for the price of, generic prototypes because they couldn't be bothered to test or research, but on the other hand, the majority of the time prototypes tend to be final or practically final versions of random games. That said I would assume most prototype sellers who understand this and actually check their games before selling just sell it as a prototype and don't say anything about the contents if they know it's final.
