Managed to beat D&D Tower of Doom using one credit with fighter.
Man what a run, everything for the most part went perfect kicked flamewings ass, Telarin went down without a hitch I even beat Deimos without him hitting me once. Going to try beating it with elf next
>>

how many tries it took? this game gets stupid hard sometimes.
>>
>>12561305
I dunno my CPSII board lacks the credit counter and the cpsii doesn't save that information like the NEOGEO MVS does.
But I played around 1-2 hours day for about three weeks.
>>
>>12561289
You didn't beat it in an arcade enviroment, your "1CC" is worthless.
Try again using real quarters, shitter.

No arcades around these parts, this will do
>>
>>12561323
Without a time machine to travel to the 90's you are just larping that you beat it.
>>12561337
I bet your arcade sticks aren't loose and the buttons sticky with dried soda, poser.
>>
>>12561323
This. If you didn't beat it while mom was shopping in the mall, it doesn't count. OP is a poser.
>>
man op managed to create a perfect storm of /vr/ asshurt

How the hell does your CBOX fit on an enclosed CPS2 with the plastic covers on? The one I got from TimeHarvest doesn't fit fully on it and I need to disassemble the plastic covers to make a full connection to the JAMMA pins.
>>
>>12561445
You need to elevate it a bit
>>
>>12561289
Fighter is kinda boring, heavy attack is slow, he has a hard time hitting enemies close to you, and the slide attack has the slowest recovery. If you don't mind playing like a turtle he's fine tho
>>
>>12561468
He has great range and hits like a truck though.
>>
>>12561508
Damage is good but long range is irrelevant when he can't connect attacks as fast as the others, Dwarf if so much more fun
>>
>>12561458
I'll try it out later because, if it does work, I'll be playing Progear and Super Puzzle Fighter II a lot more. Progear is a conversion with the battery removed and PF is a Phoenix version, so I don't want to seem like a moneybags. That said, the guy I bought the Progear and Board A from for like $375ish fixed a super capacitor on the latter that fixes a potential sound issue later on, so that was really nice. That issues is mentioned here incase you didn't know about it: https://forums.arcade-museum.com/threads/cps2-pcb-with-bizarre-audio-issue.509392/
>>
>>12561606
I actually had to change the CC1 capacitor on one of my phoenixed boards. I was getting the infamous bluescreen despite it being a phoenixed game.
https://www.arcade-projects.com/threads/phoenix%E2%80%99ed-cps2-blue-screen.35084/

It was a messy job because the CPS2 is a pretty thick board, I need to purchase a good soldering iron and clean up the mess later.
>>
>>12561289
Tell us some tips for getting that 1cc.

Freeplay and superguns have been a part of arcade culture since the 80s
>>
>>12561606
Also while i'm at it, it seems using the cbox with a jamma extension harness paired with cpsii or taito f3 produces noise in the image. Its a good harness not one of those shitty 10 euro ones. Tried borrowing one of my friends boards received the same results. Works fine with MVS and PGM though.

Qsound chads

Hopefully my phoenix game won't have that problem, as I need to learn to solder still. Still, thanks for letting me know about a potential issue. One thing I woulf of liked to do is get that "everdrive" type kit to make my Progear conversion into an "everdrive" cart, but those kits were like $700 and that is just too much.

>>12562305
I've been wondering about a decent extender for my MVS, but I've been worried about getting one and having it short something. Thank for this suggestion too!
>>
Phoenix is underrated its nice being able to switch between the regions. Nowadays decrypted roms are more popular
>>
>>12561289
Tell me some of your strategy.
Did you take the manticore route? I'm interested in the choices you made in general.
>>
>>12564739
1st choice went after the monsters
2nd save the fort myself
3rd picked the well
4th fight flamewing
>>
Thief is kinda the only way to enjoy this game. The other characters are a bit too buggy and overpowered. It's odd, in most Capcom beat em ups the strongest character is the most fun one. It's the opposite here. There are too many OTG loops and quick kills.
>>
>>12565368
Oh wait I'm thinking of SoM, OP played the even easier original one.
>>
>>12565372
SoM is easier, you can even speedkill the final boss with a lightning bolt
>>
>>12565375
If you play one of the broken characters, yeah as I said. SoM has harder and stricter routing, which is why it has value and is unique, rather than just being a very bland and generic beat em up clone that's lesser than it's predeccessors.
>>
>>12565380
>If you play one of the broken characters, yeah
Everyone can pick up lightning bolt ring and destroy red dragon and Synn
>>
>>12565385
Try it with thief lol
>>
>>12565385
TelArin also gets competely skullfucked to death with oil.
