Fester's Quest is probably the most definitive kusoge from Sunsoft's library. The combat, movement, and exploration are nothing to write home about. It's not too surprising that this never released in Japan and received a difficulty nerf in Europe.
>>
It's not that bad.
>>
whenever this game is discussed here, it always ends up being about autofire or AVGN

it's not a hard one if you use the game's toolset.
There's always a bunch of items that can be easily grinded on the starting screen off immobile enemies.
Like, you can clear slows, heal off, pick health boosts, use whip, fire missiles, become invisible, clear screens, etc.

If you stick with guns and tnt's, yeah. It's a hard game.

It is that bad.

>Fester's Quest is probably the most definitive kusoge from Sunsoft's library
oh no, you're not familiar enough with Sunsoft especially not their early Famicom releases from 85-86. Fester's Quest isn't even close to as bad as those.
>>
>>12561573
>It's not too surprising that this never released in Japan
Does Japan even know about the Addams Family?
>>
>game originated with a Sunsoft USA executive's fever dream
>he had to also get permission from Charles Addams's widow and good luck explaining vidya to a 63 year old woman in 1988
>>
>>12561573
>kusoge
You are not Japanese.
You will never be Japanese.
You don't speak Japanese.
>>
>>12561573
I can't really call it kusoge as it did not get a Famicom release.
>>
>>12561573
The worse thing about Sunsoft are their potentially incredibly awesome games that are held back by one or two fatal flaws.

But they made Batman which is pretty awesome all the way through, just that The Joker is kind of cheap as hell.
>>
who was the guy at sunsoft who was like, "you know what this game needs... first person perspective dungeon crawler segments without any puzzles or combat of any sort"
>>
>that one thread where the OP got filtered by the inventory screen
kek
>>
>>12561573
I beat it as a kid. Don't know what a kusoge is.
>>
>>12561747
I mean, it worked for Goemon

also I don't think people these days realize how cool first person dungeon crawling was back then. We didn't really have 3D.
>>
>>12561573
>Fester's Quest is probably the most definitive kusoge from Sunsoft's library.

This is factually wrong. Nothing can be "more kusoge" than THE Sunsoft game for which the word was invented.
>>
>>12561747
it does seem so out of place in this game. its also very strange how the life upgrades, which are so essential in this very difficult game, require you to walk directly into a dead end and then into the wall with no way to know that. everything about this game is bizarre and feels shoehorned in to sort of make it about the addam's family.
>>
>>12563368
it's also rather apparent that Batman was supposed to be something else and that they just put assets in it after getting the license
>>
Early Sunsoft was. The original Famicom team was fired and replaced with the team that made Batman, Blaster Master, etc.

/thread
>>
>>12561573
I mean, if only the shooting patterns made sense, the game would be immensely better.
>>
>>12561729
Based, the word should be filtered
>>
>>12561729
This. I also hate when people use pro wresting terminology outside of /pw/.
>>
Sunsoft sucks and all of their games get carried by their soundtracks. The most overrated NES developer of all time.

Most of this stuff is trash.

I guess you retards also don't say things like "deja vu" or "cliche" or "kino" and get irrationally angry when people do
>>
>>12563463
i love puroresu, especially when they do a supurekkusu
very kawaii!
>>
>>12563514
>Batman
>Batman Joker
>Blaster Master
>Hebereke
>Journey to Silius
>Gimmick!
>Gremlins 2
Idk, they seem pretty good
>>
>>12561573
The entire game was based on the novelty of marketing it as the single hardest game ever made. It leaned into it. There were shitloads of TV ads when it released to market it as that and to hype that up as a good thing.
They just likely didn't have the resources to do the same ad campaign in Japan or Europe, and without those ads explaining why it's so hard it would just come off as a shitty game.
>>
>>12563562
Note how cliche and deja vu describe things that don't have existing words in English. Just say "shit game", anon-kun.
Kino is a garbage meme though, yes, inherited from gay ass /tv/ and their fake art snob muh cinema shit. Now kids call everything fucking kino or absolute cinema.

Besides, you can call stylistic criticism of irrational all you want, but that's just coping with your lack of consistent or perceptive rationality.
>>
also what 10 year old wanted to be Fester anyway?
>>
>>12563608
Addam's Family was popular in syndication back then, which was also why they made the movies. Shame The Munsters never got the same treatment.

did you actually want to be mario? lmao
>>
>>12561724
He called up Sunsoft Japan and said make this game for me and they were like tf is this guy on?
>>
>>12563620
Has it ever been confirmed that they put so much focus on him in the movies because of Fester's Quest? I'm just imagining some movie executive saw the commercials and thought he must have been real popular with the kids.
>>
>>12563642
i think it's just because he's a fun character, he's so chaotic you can justify anything with him.
>>
>>12563562
Everyone knows what Deja vu and cliche means, and kino isn't a weebshit word that got popular in the western sphere due to a site that's basically off brand Resetera
>>
>>12563642
Idk Christopher Lloyd was a big deal back then maybe. Remember the fart scene from dennis the mennis?
>>
>>12563690
No. I watched Dennis the Menace on Nick at Nite and thought the movie looked stupid so didn't watch. I'm sure it was fine though.
>>
>>12563594
>Just say "shit game"
That's not a word, and it doesn't fully describe kusoge, which has a playful connotation and is not a purely negative epithet.
>>
>>12563820
You learned the K word from a shitty gaming blog that progressively gets shittier and is run by complete, honest to god, faggots. Discontinue use of it.
>>
>>12563853
Don't discontinue taking your meds.
>>
>>12563863
Discontinue sucking dicks

You are not Japanese.
You will never be Japanese.
You don't speak Japanese.

You're not a jap you dumbass weeb lmao

Look at this dunce.

Should we still post rage face and other tired ass memes?
>>

Cultures and languages borrow elements from each other all the time.
There is no way you can stop this.
There's no way you can police other people's speech.
All you can do is cry.
>>
>>12564097
It's not going to catch on because you force it. It's pathetic.
>>
>>12564098
It caught on over a decade ago.

Borrowing concepts is great.
Performative borrowing because "lol am western otaku" is pathetic.
I don't expect to change you. I mock you for the benefit of others.

Gotta keep the kayfabe, jabroni.
