You get a console for $99 and can pick up/borrow tons of games for under $20. There is also the developing world factor where as cost comes down the console becomes available. I bet a ton of those later-era sales are in less developed countries.

For $200 you could have probably got a new phone, ff7, mgs, re1-3, Crash and a few more titles.
