If ever there were an example of a game that just did not need boss fights, this would be it. God damn does the combat suck way too hard to fight enemies with that much HP.
>>12564123Eat rice ball and don't get caught you got filtered
>>12564127You're in such a tard rush you missed the part where I said boss fights. Which exist entirely outside of the good part of the game.
Git gud
>>12564131The combat has literally zero depth, which is fine outside of the shitty ass boss fights.
>>12564132>The combat has literally zero depthThat's not case you got a very useful quick turn attack
I can't get used to the sloggy controls. I can't pass the training without getting noticed. And then the chink woman trainer tells me how tewibol I am. No bitch, fuck you. Your controls are tewibol.
>>12564123>>12564202You two are not real ninja! You are thugs!
.>>12564123Yeah, I'd have to agree. The Lord Mei-Oh fight was especially stupid - getting stunlocked by the lightning is dumb.Tenchu 3 and 4 get much better combat systems - tenchu 4 especially. shame it didn't have a multiplayer mode and it was basically just high quality shovelware
Okay having beaten the first game now and moving on to the second... wow fuck that shit. The first game is actually great outside of the bosses, just the first boss alone in the sequel is fucking abysmal dogshit. Dropped so fucking hard.
>>12564123it was early days, i can forgive it for that.that, and the fucking outstanding OST.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4YF_T4MZBI
bosses are not the game's strong suit
>>12564123I didn't mind the boss fights. It was pretty funny beating up onikage just for him to drink a health potion lol.
Nobody in this thread got good. I beat the game without even playing it.
>>12564123I always found that bosses were the best use for bombs because you don't have to worry about attracting attention any more. Hit them with a couple bombs and a shuriken or two and you won't have to deal with the janky combat as much
>>12564123Yeah, the boss fights are really a blight on an otherwise amazing series. Tenchu Z only having 2 made it infinitely replayable for me. I remember just replaying levels in the first one (the second level can be cleared very quickly and with a high rank once you know how.) to farm for explosives which it rewards you with sometimes. Then I’d just chuck them at the bosses. The final boss is still going to require you to bring your A game, since he can still fuck you up fast and takes a lot of explosives to bring down.
>>12565881And then they followed Tenchu Z with Shadow Assassins for the wii and fell for the motion control meme so all combat switches to a first-person view and you have to take turns attacking and defending since they couldn't figure out how to make it work in real time, I guess. Shamefur dispray all around. And then they made some kind of bomberman-esque G-rated game where you don't assassinate people....they completely lost the plot. All we ever wanted was the original gameplay with better controls
>>12565903>Shadow Assassins for the wii and fell for the motion control meme so all combat switches to a first-person view and you have to take turns attacking and defending since they couldn't figure out how to make it work in real time, I guessI never even finished that one. This series deserves so much better. I still hold out hope for a new one that builds on Z, improves the mechanics and stealth even more, and gets rid of all the trash boss fights and forced combat.
>>12565737Yeah you just throw a smoke bomb then throw grenades. Works on every boss in all the games from what I can remember.
>>12564123Literally go to gamefaqs and learn the different moves you can make to attack in different directions, roll and reverse direction, change facing in various ways, do a reverse jump, do a long jump, block, sidestep, backstep, and a whole bunch of other shit.Or just pick up grenades, smoke bombs, shurikens, super shurikens, armor, resurrection leafs, and so on.Tank controls suck for a game like this, but there are so many tools available to the player that you can make it work with a few hours of effort to learn the advanced controls. And even then there are a few cases in which you can get outside the combat arena to cheese the boss.In the first game they have correct night vision optics in that looking at something askance allows you to see farther.
>>12565924They tried to jump on the Wii bandwagon without bothering to ask whether it actually made sense, gameplay-wise. If they'd really committed resources to it I suppose they could have made it work since shit like Twilight Princess was still viable with motion controls but instead they came up with that laughable "babby's first swordfight" system where you did nothing but swing then block, then swing, then block.... Instead of deriving any benefit from the motion controls they had to completely gimp the game to make it work. If it had just had the same janky combat as the rest of them it would have at least been tolerable. And as for >I still hold out hope for a new one that builds on ZThey unironically turned it into Sekiro, so yiou kinda got what you wanted, I guess?
Tenchu Tactics or whatever it's called is looking interesting, at least.
>>12565924I had to download the psp version because I hated the wagglan shit. It was decent. RtD and Z are still my favorites.
>>12566349The PSP version doesn't have motion control but it still has the same nonsensical turn-based combat system that was based around motion controls. They didn't revise it at all, just had you awkwardly use the analog stick in a scenario that was clearly intended for the nunchucks. It's not unplayable but it's like two different games pasted awkwardly pasted together.
