Any fellow Martian Gothic fans here?

That cover is both a cool and a really stupid idea at the same time
>>
>>12564826
This is one of the european pc version covers, the one I had.
>>
>>12564823
3 gemmies in one cover
>>
I enjoyed it, heard that due to crunch they didn't get to put in all the contetn they wanted, such as different endings
>>
>>12566282
The crunch is what really killed the game. With enough time they could have smoothed out the rougher edges and this becomes more obvious the further you progress. The game starts off very strong but as it goes it just gets worse and worse that by the time you reach the Necropolis the game itself starts falling apart.

BORING
>>
I only know of this game because of a video of bad video game voice acting I saw ages ago.

The voice acting varies between fantastic (MOOD and Harroway) to okay (Matlock) to pretty bad (everyone else). The files and lore are all pretty goddamn well written, owing to Stephen Marley being the writer.

I could do without the nigger on the cover. It looks cool, otherwise
>>
>>12566915
The nigger is one of the three main characters. It's funny how they made all three into stereotypes. The black guy picks locks and is a demolitions expert, the asian is an autistic, asocial computer wiz and the white british woman is the medical officer and scientist.

That's a woman? Looks a lot like Daniel Radcliff on the cover.

> Pick this game up on the PS1 for $10 new back in the day
> Really dig the vibe
> The forced isolation/send items through vacuum tube mechanic is pretty novel
> Get to a part where one character is crawling through a vent being chased by a monster
> A hatch is supposed to close once you crawl through it, preventing the monster from getting you
> Hit a bug where the hatch would close but the monster would clip right through it like it wasn't there, and kill me
> This happens every time
> Game is 100% softlocked as a result

I really liked what I was able to play, but I guess there was a reason this game was $10.

The weird thing is how they are all sharing a single oversized helmet somehow
>>
>>12567589
I always heard that bug was PC only, but I guess not. Game's such a hilarious mess. One of the guides on gamefaqs is still incomplete because of another game-breaking bug in the very last area.

That's been fixed with the 3.0 patch.

I genuinely preferred it over Resident Evil. The story, setting, atmosphere and presentation is peak, and the concept of controlling three isolated characters is really cool. But like other anons said, the game starts to fall apart the further in you go.
The game was originally a point and click adventure, but was made into an RE clone because the publishers wanted that RE money so the game had to be remade in that style. The lack of time on a tight deadline caused a lot of issues, like janky puzzle design (mostly with the Trimorphs like Airlock 2 and the Obelisk), missing or broken features (there's a 4th radio that was supposed to be given to Ben Gunn, the clock in Harroway's room was supposed to be used for the Necropolis bomb, that energy reader, I forget the name, is functionally busted, etc), and horrendous voice acting (they couldn't get everyone a good VA in time so they had to settle for what they could get). There was also supposedly a boss fight planned for "Queen Mab", but it was scrapped (and with how bad the Whittaker encounter was handled in the PC version, it was probably for the best).

I'd really like to see the game get remade one day, or at least have some sort of spiritual successor.

I had the same experience ($10 new) but didn't get that far because I picked up SOTN new for $20 at the same time, and did not have the patience for MG's quirks and load times. The game ended up being neglected on my (teenage) bedroom floor and thrown out with the trash within a year.

The PS1 version was a mistake. It was a lot of people's only exposure to the game and it's the inferior, watered down one. It lacks character animations, voice lines, ambient and enemy sounds, enemy types, less detailed and varied enemy models, the player character models are less detailed and animated, the sound is worse and missing a lot of effects, the backgrounds are lower resolution, has loading between certain areas while the pc version is one big, seamless map. I feel sorry for anyone who missed out on the PC version, it's the definitive one (when patched).
>>
>>12564823
As a kid I thought the cover depicted someone transforming sort of like animorphs.
>>
>>12564823
It's alright. One of the better small time survival horrors of the era.
>>
>>12564823
One of my favorite horror games
i'd beg for a remake/remaster
