Why could they never figure out an acceptable default control scheme for this series? 8 fucking games in a row they refused to map the dash to the shoulder buttons, despite literally nobody liking it on the face buttons as it makes even something as simple as a dashing wall jump a pain in the ass.
>>12564973I hate GBAbabbies who fprce the shoulderdash on the rest of us, putting it next to the jump button is more intuitive.
>>12564973
>>12564973Its better on the face button because I scroll through weapons with L/R
>>12565052you can put dash on a shoulder button, jump and shoot on two face buttons, and prev/next weapon on the other two face buttons
>>12565118Also with emulators, you can do anything. You could even make L3 and R3 your dash buttons (RIP those controllers)
>>12565118That's what I do in the SNES games. PSX, it's another story.
>>12564973yea but you can remap them to literally anythingwhat a dumb fucking thread
>>12565217the vast majority of games doesn't force you to remap the controls every time you play because they stubbornly stuck with a control scheme nobody likes for 8 games in a rowwhat a dumb fucking post
>>12564973>Why do I have to adapt to whatever control scheme they wanted was the default?Because they assume you are not retarded?
>>12565047This.Capcom always game players the freedom to map it how they like. People didn't like it when Street Fighter 2 had the "Fierce Puches and Kicks" on the Shoudlers but you also had a fucknig OPTION MENU to fix that. You will be fine, just like Mega Man X has been perfect for 30+ years
I've literally never heard anyone complain about the button mapping in the X series until long after the Zero series ended. Dash-jumping isn't hard with jump and dash mapped to face buttons unless you're a drooling retard. The only complaint I ever heard of was that the X button did nothing and it wasn't until Mega Man 8 that they at least made it so you can use the regular buster with a special weapon equipped. And now that I look at the series as an adult, I understand that dashing is a shit mechanic. Just like every other armor part in X1, it doesn't actually do anything useful. It's just a button you mash repeatedly to go faster with no down-sides other than that it's tedious. I would have rather had a sprint button you hold down to run faster.
>>12567202>Dash-jumping isn't hard with jump and dash mapped to face buttonsUnless you're playing like a retarded granny you'll also be shooting while dash jumping and that's objectively dogshit with all the buttons next to each other.
>>12567328>he can't do the thumb rollHere is how you properly play Rokkuman Ekkusu >tip of thumb on Y>joint on B>roll thumb over to the right, keeping the tip on Y, to hit A
>>12567564Really the joint position is kinda halfway between A and B, so you roll a bit to hit either.
>>12565018>putting it next to the jump button is more intuitive. Please show me how you dash-walljump while charging your buster.
>>12567571>>12567569>>12567564
>>12567579That looks unreliable as well as uncomfortable. You have 10 fingers, so do you really have to limit yourself to using just one of them?
>>12567593It's how I've played the X games since the 90s. Perfectly comfortable for me, and I find it very reliable, even situations where you want to jump/dash/charge/shoot, like farming for pickups in the tower climb before X1 Sigma.
What a retarded OP, complaining about a non-issue because there's option menu. But if you want the real answer, it's because many japanese used this hand position
>>12567691Looks retarded. No wonder only they could come up with the N64 controller.
>>12567691Considering the layout of the SFC controller, if they were designing for that grip it would have been Y X A.
>>12567579And you can play fighting games on a thumbstick, doesn't make it any less retarded when there's a dpad right next to it. Using that layout gets old fast if you actually utilize mobility.
>>12567715 I will double-tap dash when using a dash boosted shot on bosses, but other than that, I find the thumbroll method to work perfectly fine when it comes to mobility (and I'm pretty much constantly dashing). If it's easier for some people to use shoulder buttons, that's fine, but for me it's more awkward than thumbrolling.
>>12565018It doesn't have anything to do with GBA.>>12567202I never heard many complaints but there are a decent number of people who will just say it's better with dash on a shoulder button. I think some ROM hacks set dash to shoulder buttons by default now. A lot of people probably don't consider something like that until getting a bit more familiar with the games too. It's just more comfortable especially while shooting to not have to press three buttons at once with one finger. Yeah you can do it but there's nothing wrong with saying another way is better. You're not retarded for finding something that works better and you're not smart for using something that may be less than ideal.
>>12567846Either you never dash jump off walls while holding a charge or you find awkwardness and inefficiency as comforting. In the original X games in particular you couldn't hold dash when dash wall jumping, you have to press them simultaneously. Then again even in the later ones, you pretty much hold the dash button and jump so it would be retarded in those as well. Again, its not to say its not possible to do, its more that you'd have to be a contrarian to prefer it.
>>12567571...so have both. Face button is better in conjuction with jumping, shoulder is better for charging.
>>12568204>Face button is better in conjuction with jumping,Its not, though.
