What are you guys playing? What's your favorite yugioh game?
Is pic related any good?
>>12565212I'd pay 5 bucks max for it, I think it's too overpriced. The presentation with the manuals is cool but everything else is no different than just emulating the games yourself.
>>12565197My favorite is "Stairway To The Destined Duel", but man is the early game ROUGH. So you pick three starter decks "Joey", "Yugi" and "Kaiba" (which also determines how hard the game is too I think?) and the problem is that they're kind of overloaded with Level 5 and above monsters as well as too many magic and trap cardsSo you literally have to get your shit kicked in until you can get some decent cards either from Mokuba (who is literally so weak to the point of being a pushover, but be careful, because he can summon Kaiba on you) or the weekly card packsStill though, this is what finally taught me how to play Duel Monsters competently
>>12565250I played this game a lot but I played world championship 2004 wayy more even though it's a downgrade in the presentation department in many ways. No actual story or character dialogue really sucks but I prefer things like the ui elements and the music in 2004 more. I also think the ai may be worse than stairway too.I enjoy old yugioh card art + lore a lot and loved unlocking cards just so i could go through them later while chilling to the game's music. The old yugioh artstyle in general, including the manga, just looks very nice and appealing to me. It's a very unique artstyle I've never really seen replicated by anyone else.
>>12565327What got me into Stairway was because I love Battle City, ABSOLUTELY 100% love it. It was the era of Yugioh that I got into the most because it's what was airing when I got home from school in the 00's. And the feeling that a battle could happen anywhere anytime was amazingAs much as I love the anime, I do feel bad that there's no room in the franchise for the original seven volumes of the manga
>>12565250The starter deck in SttDD is filled with limited cards and other powerful staples like Summoned Skull, Trap Hole and Fissure. In fact it always includes 10 cards from the limited listhttps://yugipedia.com/wiki/Initial_Deck_(SDD)The 5Ds era games have much worse starters with stronger opponents too.
>>12565197been wanting to start this, hopefully when i get some time if not for summer.
>>12565250I've been replaying this too. I wanted to make anything but an Earth deck, but it has such good cards:>Giant Rat>Muka Muka>Millennium Golem>Mysterious Puppeteer>Milus Radiant>Gemini Elf>Sogen and Gaia Power with how much Earth overlaps with Warrior types.I know most have equivalents in other elements but it's so easy to get cards like these early on.
>>12565923The big ones that I always go after first are Copycat (I seemingly always get this fairly quickly in the weekly deck packs), Giant Soldier Of Stone, and Mystical Elf. I tend to favor a defense deck up until I get enough to actually fight and get the better of my opponents. Summoned Skull is a nice instant one
>>12565531I liked battle city the most too for the tcg part, but my non-tcg and overall favorite will always be early yugioh with the shadow games before they went all in on the card game. I love all of the characters and the occult/creepy shit they had going on. To this day it's the only manga I've ever bothered reading. A reboot of yugioh that follows the manga closely would be kino but I doubt it would work with how modern anime looks. I think it really has to have that older anime look to shine. I wasn't a huge fan of how everyone looked into the dsod movie.
>>12565930Copycat has saved me more than once from bullshit opponent summons like Kaiba's BEUD. Great card.Another favorite of mine is Total Defense Shogun. I love tricking the AI into activating and wasting Mirror Force with it.
>tfw got my winged kuriboh hoodie today>can't wait to wear it out while skateboardingThe dude who sold it to me was based.
>>12565212Solid collection if you can get it for 20-30 bucks. Of course, it's just a collection of roms, but if you like yu-gi-oh and want those roms in the physical its decent.
>>12568010Can't you do online play in it as well?
>>12565579My brother. I'm in the same boat but refuse to play them till I watch all of GX to avoid spoilers.>>12568225For some of the titles it does, though how alive the online is is anyone's guess.
>>12568225yeah, but not sure how active it is. There's no crossplay between steam and switch either. If you want to play old school yugioh online you would be better off playing goat format or edison on duelingbook. I wouldn't it buy it for the online aspect alone.
>>12568351>I wouldn't it buy it for the online aspect alone.Nah, you either get it cuz you like the novelty of owning some of your favorite roms physical, or don't. Anymore, rom collections like this are the only "new" games I buy, even if it is sort of asinine. Hurst me bad that the money doesn't go to Kazuki anymore.
>>12568350even did got the dlc cards + umd swap extra (includes god cards+ a few others.)hope you find yourself some time to watch and play eventually.
>>12565197wc2010, wc2006 is probably the best /vr/ one though.>>12565572lmao this is absolutely not the case, the gba era has the most busted early opponents. the 5ds trilogy is supposed to be played in campaign mode to begin with, so you actually have appropriate opponents>>12565579tag force is ass, play the 5ds ds trilogy (skipping 2009)
>>12565197>no forbidden memoriesFM is ass. played the living shit out of it with my brother back in summer of 2005. I remember looking up tips on the internet and half of the forum users lying about getting stronger cards when in reality you can't get any of those.Anyone remembers the "Obelisk The Tormentor" photoshopped screenshot?
