This might be one of the greatest games ever made
>>12567614It's kinda of slow paced and the platforming is unsatisfying. It's like a checklist game.
Yep, and as such it also filters a lot of midwits
The only part that frustrated me was full clearing that mini game where you have to grab skulls or something? I was mashing my controller buttons and actually broke them to it. I'd rather be doomed to only play that dumb Chrono Cross horse feeding mini game for the rest of my life than to have to do the one in Demon Crest again.
>>12567983What about the minecart in Tomba! 2
>>12567983Yeah that is the hardest official challenge in the game. (Yes I have fought ALL the bosses.)Demon's Crest is mostly awesome but it really needed a bit more time in development I think. It could have been SUPER awesome.
>>12567983My trick is to put the special action button (for headbutting) on a shoulder button. Much quicker to react that way.
>>1256761410/10 pixel art and music, made by Mega Man devs so the gameplay is competent (and in fact copies many of MM's gimmicks like the dash and wall jump). However, you need to constantly switch forms, which requires pausing the game and scrolling to the form you want, then unpausing. It's a complete buzz killer. This game is like a retro version of Mega Man ZX, with a much cooler aesthetic, but horrible QoL.Amazing gothic atmosphere though. Just listen to this:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOzkzx1RKgw
>>12567994Tough, but I feel like I was mentally prepared from childhood melt downs in this order>Dk 1+2 minecart>Dk64 minecart>Harry Potter Philosophers Stone minecart (was this one even hard? I remember my mom took away the ps1 for a day because I threw the controller.)By the time I got to Tomba I was battle worn. I don't know what could prep me for demon crest. Wack a mole?

>>12567614>This might be one of the greatest games ever madeNobody is saying that. This game kinda fucking blows. Looks nice though.
>>12567614Is it worth playing the previous entries first?
>>12568296I played the Game Boy one and it was a good enough game but it felt more comical, playful, and action-focused like Ghosts 'n Goblins than moody and mystery-focused like Demon's Crest. I get the impression that the NES one is more of the same? But I haven't played it. Anyway my impression is that Demon's Crest mostly stands on its own.
>>12568221was waiting for this
>>12567614One of those games that basically forced you to look at a walk through the first time playing through, and that point what’s the fucking point? Peak atmosphere, look and OST though
For the longest time, I never made the connection that the same composer did Mega Man X4 and Apollo Justicehttps://youtu.be/WCKVdGmRW-M?si=y-Jh_-n9KMhRoN5Lhttps://youtu.be/D4ragdexomw?si=uU6RpOREPQvQfcrpI'd like a new Demon Crest entry with this nigga on board again. The only thing I missed from the original GB games was the overworld exploration. The mode 7 fly mode was cool, but I liked walking around and encountering battles and going onto towns.
hate this bitch
>>12568326This is a valid use case for save states. Just save state your way through them before you play Demon's Crest.
>>12568525But... then you don't get to fully enjoy them, and you don't really gain any benefit since Demon's Crest is (seemingly) in a different continuity anyway. It's like with Zelda games I think, they're related but every game is its own complete story (usually). Unless the NES game actually continues the story of the Game Boy one, but it wouldn't even matter if it did because the Game Boy one barely has a story to begin with.
>>12568296NES game is the best in the series, and GB one is a top 10 GB game

The different forms were cool and looked great. I wish it had a few more. But like >>12568080 said, switching between them was stupid.
>>12568512Is X4 the greatest X game? It's definitely better than 2 and 3, but I'm too blinded by nostalgia to tell if it's better than X
I think it's interesting how the greatest game ever made is in fact worse than its predecessor.
>>12571094No, it’s worse than any of the SNES games. Everything except the final boss is a total pushover. Genuinely insulting that they not only refill your weapon energy upon death, but they also give you mid level checkpoints you can restart from if you game over.
It's fun. There are some hacks that makes the transformation switching less clunky.
