He could've saved the Dreamcast. Why did Sega abandon him?

The dreamcast could've been saved if it had a mario game on it
>>
>>12569326
Because he wasn't Sega's character.
>>
>>12569329
Releasing Mario Sunshine on the Dreamcast actually would've been the best way for Nintendo to completely obliterate Sega. Because that game's fucking trash.
>>
>>12569326
Nothing was saving Sega at that point. The fate of the console was already set.
>SoA forces 32X and overproduces literally fucking everything to the point where any profit from the Genesis years is gone
>Saturn screws over retailers and competes with itself via the 32X
>SOA refuses to localize half the games for the thing in addition to the base hardware not being exciting enough for the big titles to get ported
>Dreamcast is put out super fucking early, basically a second (third) fifth gen console in capability
>whole thing ends up killing the company and forces Sega to merge with a pachinko company
>>
>>12569326
the only thing the Dreamcast required be done differently was Sega not cheap out and pay the $20 license fee so it could play dvd movies.
>>
>>12569749
the main problem Sega had was that their Arcade revenue went down as arcades went out of style. You don't know shit.

Hmm...
Let's look at what Sega Retro, the top online Sega resource says
>>
>>12569329
Could have saved the gamecube too if they didn't wait almost a year to release one.
>>
>>12570448
>>12570485
>tries to contradict the post
>ends up showing that SoA did implant the idea to release a Genesis add-on that nobody would ever want or buy
>>
>>12569326
Apparently, Blood Omen 2 is this game but with the MC's head changed to Kain, and it turned out shit/meh, so there you go.
>>
>>12570884
As opposed to the standalone Genesis 32X console SoJ wanted to sell
>>
>>12570897
They were thinking of ideas and that's the type of thing that SoJ would've inevitably veto'd given the Saturn was already being made and no value would've come of releasing it.
Making a Genesis add-on and siphoning off developers for it was a supremely retarded idea.
>>
>>12570902
Can't tell if you're baiting or genuinely believe the 32X was completely done without SoJ's input or something
>>
>>12570908
I can't tell if you're fucking illiterate or some kind of 30 something slob that believes shit he read on a forum a decade ago and warps reality to holdfast to that belief.
Without SoA, the 32X wouldn't exist. It's not that SoJ didn't know about it, but that SoA had the types of people around who thought something as fucking dumb as the 32X was a good idea, because SoA was staffed by people who had experience outside of video games and it fucking showed with those warehouse stock numbers.
No 32X means that any Neptune concepts wouldn't get off the ground because the base hardware wouldn't exist to make the Neptune easy to produce. No other console prior to the Saturn would end up existing due to that, and the general market confusion would've been avoided.

Obviously the Saturn would've still failed though, due to SoA's boneheaded decision to shadowdrop a fucking console, but that's beside the point.

>SoA had the types of people around who thought something as fucking dumb as the 32X was a good idea
And SoJ thought an entire standalone 32X Genesis was an even better idea
>>

>SoA's boneheaded decision to shadowdrop a fucking console
SoA had "Saturnday", September 2nd, 1995 as official launch day. The shift was caused by Nakayama pulling rank and demanding SoA launch earlier.

Chakan is one of those games I always wanna like because the story is really cool and metal and the visuals and music appeal to me (especially the music in that wind stage) but man does the gameplay suck. Idk I might try it again someday but I remember the controls being really awkward and everything having shitty hit detection.
>>
If it had been released in the West, the Saturn would have obliterated the PSX.
>>
>>12570920
it worked with the gbc. i know pokemon played a big part, but the gb pocket was already a similar upgrade.

Wanna pirate the dvd iso so bad with 52 or Evan 32 interwebs?
