Are the Rockman Complete Works ports any good? All I know is that some UI features got updated but idk how far it deviates from the NES versions.
>>12569565No, they're pretty bad. The only upside is the complete lack of lag and sprite flicker, something you can equally achieve on emulators.
>>125695654-6 have remixed soundtracks that are probably worth a playthrough for.
>>12569594Bad in what way? Give me the autistic details, son.
>>12569634If you play in remake mode, the art style for the hud, additions and menu clashes with the game. The weapons menu somehow takes more time to load than on NES and I personally don't think the soundtrack is better. The additions consist in clues like big arrows telling you the path to the next screen is through this hole which happens to be the only place you can go, as if the player was a 6 years old with down syndrome who never played a game before. If you play in classic mode the music sound like someone recorded the original tracks with a shitty microphone next to a TV and somehow I feel like I'm not too far from the truth.
>>12569641>The weapons menu somehow takes more time to load than on NESNigger, the whole point of these games is that L and R now work.
>>12569565There are some quality-of-life changes that really improve the gameplay. Other features were poorly implemented, but overall, it was a time when they put real effort into things. These days, you get half-baked emulation and other subpar emulator features.
>>12569565I remember importing some of these back when they were relatively new, mostly because I thought the case/manual art was cool and I was intrigued by the novelty of old RM games releasing on the PlayStation with new features. That said, I don't recall if I ever even beat any of these releases.
>replaces the health bars with MM8-looking ones. Even the extra lives counter uses mm8 face>OG mode (aka nes game), NAVI mode (kid-friendly mode), pocket station features, etc.>90s capcom Qsound audio music. NES sound effects were kept. >typical playstation quirks when playing nes/snes roms on CD-ROM. >fancy "new" art from a new artist capcom hired. No inafune art in the game. Honesly some of the dynamic poses of the new art looks better than his original sketches.
>>12570351>replaces the health bars with MM8-looking ones.I did like how they gave Proto Man his own boss meter emblem for MM5.
>>12570351>NAVI mode (kid-friendly mode),It's literally just arrows pointing into pits. Meanwhile you can enjoy new music, and scroll through both weapons and adapters with their own buttons. Mega Man is a child's series, by the way.
>>12569565The main non-cosmetic upside is having weapon select on the shoulder buttons and a dedicated button for changing Forms instantly in 6. These were collected in the Anniversary Collection by Atomic Planet, but they ruined the sound by forcing all the remixes to mono and fucking up the preamp for 6's remixes instead of adjusting the volume properly, so 6's remixes in particular sound like they're playing through blown-out speakers.
>>12570456Great job summarizing the thread, bot-kun!
>>12570458Nice job not reading the actual text, cunt-kun.
>>12570475OI M8, you got a loicense for those misogynist words?
i only play Classic this way.
>>12569594>lack of lagon the flipside, ps1 emulators haven't quite caught up yet on the input lag issue you can eliminate most of it by enabling pre-emptive frames on NES emulators (not sure if input lag is present with these ports on actual hardware, but jumping between the NES and these on emulation you definitely feel a difference)
