From Imagineer (the Battle of Olympus guys) came this 1986 FDS release
>the princess of Arabia has been kidnapped and you are a police detective extraordinaire who has to rescue her since Arabia has cut off shipments of some important medicine to Japan until she's found
>to make the game as long as possible they made it that every single building in town can be entered which gets very tedious very fast and most of them are completely useless
>there's also side scrolling sections
>save your game? you have to buy a floppy disk from a shop which costs money
>certain enemies which block entrances to stuff require you to yell into the controller 2 mic to kill them
>hopefully you're playing on emulation or an original RF Famicom or you're fucked
tl;dr game is not fun, nobody in Japan likes it unless they had childhood nostalgia for it, and it set Imagineer's bar for quality at near TOSE level of bad.

>game included an audio-ized "drama" of the game plot performed by actress Yosuko Tomita
American kids never got those kind of gimmicks with their games.

Sounds like Japan experienced the unnecessary muh voices muh fmvs retardation earlier with the fucking famicom

>save your game? you have to buy a floppy disk from a shop which costs money

>hopefully you're playing on emulation or an original RF Famicom or you're fucked

KP was part of a trilogy of Imagineering FDS games that included multimedia gimmicks. The others were Ginga Denshō: Galaxy Odyssey Seiken Psycho Caliber: Majū no Mori Densetsu. Because of those they were pretty expensive for FDS releases.

reading comprehension, zoomer. he means the save game feature in the game involves your character going to a shop and purchasing a floppy disk.

You're right, OP. I should never touch Japanese slop again and should stick with the ZX Spectrum.

>>12570043
Phew, for a moment I thought you were talking about ImagineerING. (Ex-Activision devs.) They make some truly awful games.
>>
>>12570043
Also includes features like needing to eat food periodically or you lose health and you earn money by arresting criminals and collecting a pay bonus for it.

needs an English translation and also maybe ROM patch to replace the microphone thing with the controller 2 Start button so you can actually play it on a NES or AV Famicom. this game is pretty bad kusoge though so no one has bothered translating it.

original version by the aforementioned Yasuko Tomita https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjdsBUdMung

*Imagineer, sorry
>>
>>12570090
ambitious but shit coding skills which is puzzling considering they should have had lots of experience with 6502 asm
>>
>>12570051
it wouldn't have been a thing that Americans in that era would go for since it was when everything had to be gritty and dudeXtreme
>>
>>12570043
The concept is neat, the execution is not. Actually it reminds me of Sierra adventures and their tons of useless screens to pad out the game length.

Given that running and jumping are mapped to the same button in all their Bart games, I'd have to imagine (heh) that they haven't grown out of the 2600/US C64 era of game design.
>>
Imagineering always sucked

>>12570051
Western PC games had such gimmicks all the time
>>
Don't NES emulators have microphone support? I mean DS ones do so why the fuck not NES. All it does is detect noise and turn that into an extra input.
