You may think, perhaps with good reason, that games with the highest execution demands like shmups or fighting games are the hardest. But you would be WRONG.

Sure, these games ARE difficult, but they can also be quite stimulating to play. There's one factor these games are missing which ultimately makes them fall short in the difficulty ratings.

RPGs by comparison are exceptionally BORING. So much so that the most skilled players won't even ATTEMPT these games. The prospect of unskippable and progression-critcal WALLS OF TEXT brings the most veteran gamers to their knees.

In traditionally hard games, it's possible to rely on muscle memory or reflexes to reach the credits. But RPGs completely FILTER players who rely on these crutches. You can't just autopilot your way through the game. To play RPGs you have to CONSTANTLY fight the hardest boss in all of gaming: DIALOG.

There's no shortcuts in RPGs, just grit and willpower, with no comparison when it comes to difficulty. These relentless demands assert RPGs are the most difficult genre in all of gaming. How do you COPE?

I'm too old for most RPGs I prefer games that are fun these days.

Sorry SHMUP-cuck, you 'll always be mogged by JRPG-bulls

Shmups barely even qualify as games really. Moving a dot around the screen is as mindless as waving a laser pointer around for a cat. RPGs require intelligence and planning to overcome a variety of challenges.

shmups are meant to be a genre where you just mindlessly repeat the same 20 minute loop for dozens and dozens of hours on end until you memorize every single enemy location, strategy, and pattern.
That's why they are a shit genre and appealing only for the most autistic rhe only skill shmups test is memorisation

There are many other genres that take far more skill and are more rewarding to play, like rhythm games, RTS, roguelikes, etc. The main strategy of shmups basically boils down to pattern memorization, which is the lowest form of skill imaginable. Even superplayers recommend that you copy off of replays in order to get gud

>unskippable and progression-critcal WALLS OF TEXT
This is dumb shit on the same level as "waaah there is gameplay in this game"

It's been years and I still don't understand why the /vg/ shmupg posers/forum rejects made their mission in their tiny lives to target Japanese RPGs specifically.
They have no issues with any other genre other than the specifically Japanese rpgs, apparently they are fine with shit like, say, Cyberpunk or any other modern slop, because hey, it's not Japanese.
Anyway, sex havers can enjoy games from any genre, there's good RPGs that aren't brain easy and those are all generally retro, so you kids are on the wrong board to schiz up about, go shitpost on /v/ or /vrpg/

JRPGfags pretending their games haven't been straight lines for decades is funny.
