Is playing with the original-like controller a noticeably better experience than using a regular modern one?

Better? Man, that's a debate to say the least. Can we say it's certainly the most authentic way? I liked my INTV, but that controller was about as silly as the one on my 5200.

It depends entirely on which strangers on the internet you're trying to impress.

I'd personally rather just play this anymore if I'm ever nostalgic for Intellivision games. The Intellivision controller was always just kind of uncomfortable to use and most games didn't really use the keypad for much anyway

For me? It's the Intellivision 2.

It looks cool, and the detachable controllers are nice, but it’s worse than the original in pretty much every other way. The controllers are awful, condensing power and reset into one button was dumb, and you have to plug in a huge fucking brick to power it (I know AVGN mentioned that once).

How so? As someone who had an Intellivision 1 when it was new, I prefer the 2's controllers.
Also, to >>12572032 's point, the Sprint's controllers are pretty much locked to the Sprint (to my knowledge). The best new-school controller was with the Flashback. Removable/replaceable, and using a bespoke adapter or being good with a soldering iron can be used with the INTV2.

Yes, the Intellivision controller is so unique there's no way to really emulate it.

I heard this guy is a maestro when it comes to video game music.
