Great story and characters but as an RPG/adventure it's a massive downgrade compared to kotor 1. 1 has way better gameplay because the classes are more distinct (e.g. kotor 2 made all the classes have similar BAB, removed the level cap so every build ends up with everything by the end of the game anyway, being a smoothtalker is almost useless, you can't get a lightsaber to make use of guardian unique ability etc). There's also a serious lack of interesting encounters outside of those hand to hand combat arena things and enemy scaling goes to shit around the halfway point and the game just throws platoons of easy to dispatch mooks at you for the rest of the game, compare this to k1 which often mixed things up like when you go to the temple on dantooine and the enemies resist energy so even though you just got a lightsaber you're better using swords, there's nothing like this in k2. also enemy ai is bugged and they don't use things like sheild or force powers as much (at all?), making different loadouts less useful.

The levels and visuals in K2 are often extremely bland and amatuer looking, there's so many flat drab grey corridors, though i will say dxun is the best planet across both games man i fuckin love me some 6th gen rainy jungle levels and the mandalorians are the coolest guys.

I'm a certified hater but something about kotor 1 is kind of compelling. It captures the tone of the original films in a way that other SW material really doesn't come close to. 2 has higher highs arguably, and probably my favorite moment between the two games, but 1 is the whole package.

I love both games desu but something about kotor 2 i like alot but I agree with all the criticisms and agree that kotor 1 is probably the better game but man do I like the jedi sentinel sith assassin build regardless of alignment alot of fun imo

It cant be that pointless when the last planet/ending was noticeably incomplete at launch.
