For my first time Castlevania it's actually not that bad, a bit difficult but nothing that bad. What are some other games similar to this that play the game? Whipping shit has never felt so satisfying.

You should go on with Castlevania 3 (Jap version) and Rondo of Blood. They are closest to the original game. Then 4 and the Genesis game expand on the concept, mechanically.

The Sharp X68000 Castlevania game is good too. It got a port to the PS1 as Chronicles, but the port's HUD always blocks the upper 15% to 20% of the actual game screen and some hitboxes are supposedly glitched out.

I've played Metroid, but I've never played a Castlevania game. So which is the first 16 or 32 bit Castlevania title that offers Metroid-like gameplay, please?

Some of the very earliest Castlevania games (like Simon's Quest) have what you might call very early Metroidvania elements, but the one you'll want is Symphony of the Night on PS1 for what 99% of people are referring to.

Metroidvania really became a term with Symphony of the Night, like >>12573889 said. The term came to be commonly used for Castlevania games featuring Symphony's gameplay style of traversing a large, Metroid-like map and obtaining abilities to access more of it. The Metroidvania games also have a leveling system, unlike Metroid. Eventually, Metroid-like games that have a stats system, direct weapon upgrades (such as pure attack strength), or tons of equipment came to be called Metroidvanias too.

Majuu Ou for SNES is basically Castlevania where you start the game with a gun. Then later you turn into various demons and shoot projectiles.
The game has lots of neat ideas and absolutely beautiful scenery, however it plays like shit.
1) Your projectiles do shit damage 2) there's no autofire and 3) attacking has no recovery frames, so the whole game comes down to how fast you can spam the attack button.
The stage timers are also very strict on top of that, so basically just use a turbo button for attacking and don't feel guilty about it.
Would recommend for the beautiful visuals alone, as long as you're aware you're in schlock territory. Not the same quality as proper Castlevania games, but then again, Castlevania is one of the most consistently high-quality franchises out there so it's hard to compete with.

I had a lot of fun with this game and didn't see any major problem with it except that the transformations aren't balanced well enough. It's a little funky but I wouldn't call it schlock, and yeah it's worth playing.

Much like Simon Belmont, or Arthur from Ghosts 'n Goblins. It's fun once you're used to it, and your character can do cool things with his wings. It's just that he does them a bit slowly.
