Discuss the /vr/ Crash titles
>>12573581everything after CTR is shit, each for their own reasons. if you're a Crash diehard you can still enjoy aspects of them though. if you want to know what a PS2 Crash made by Naughty Dog would have felt like, play Jak & Daxter. Its open-world platorming is what WoC and Twinsanity both tried and failed to be. Jak's moveset is identical to Crash's.
>>125737142 N-Tranced is good though
>>12573581Crash of the Titans got a fucking GBA port? What was that like?
>>12573714>Jak & Daxter. Its open-world platorming is what WoC and Twinsanity both tried and failed to be. Jak's moveset is identical to Crash's.and even then jak 1 was very mid. it didn't do anything wrong but it also did little to stand out. and then came the 2 disastrous trend-chasing sequels, i don't even want to talk about those...
>>12574026Slower, neutered 2d version of the console version. What really sucks is that it could have been great like the Spyro Eternal Night GBA game made by the same devs in the same damn year, but they just decided not to care as much about GBA Crash for some reason. Hell they also made that DS version of Titans which is a lot better. Probably just rushed.
1 is the best. Best levels and difficulty by far.2 is a good game for normies while still maintaining some of the original difficulty but the gimmicks already start showing( jetpack).3 is just terrible. Vehicles and gimmick levels everywhere.CRT is the best mario kart game.
>>12573581Theres no point in playing any of the games beyond CTR. Maybe try Huge Adventure and N-Tranced on GBA because they're decent enough. The rest is either just pale imitations of what came before or failed attempts at experimentation.Twinsanity definitely deserves a remake though. Game was rushed to hell and has lots of good ideas buried in a very unpolished game.

Well, the ideas are good in a vacuum yes, but not for a Crash Bandicoot game. I don't really know how to to articulate it but stuff like having Cortex be a graduate of the academy of evil is the wrong kind of cartooniness for Crash. In the original games Crash was ostensibly set in the real world, yes there was magic and the environments and wild animals looked and acted cartoony but there was a grounded surface to it all, you know?I think Twinsanity was the game where they just had random anthropomorphic characters inhabiting the world. Before then, any anthros were specifically results of Cortex/Brio's evolution experiments. It was never meant to be like Sonic where random animal people inhabit the world.

>>12573581post psx, the gba are interesting. The ps2 ones are from the 2000s (for better/for worse)
>>12573581CTR > 2 == 3 > Twin Sanity > Bash > 1 > WoC == CNK == CTTR >>>>>> Titans/Mutantssomething like this
The two mutant games are really weird. They had interesting ideas and tried to keep things fresh by mixing a bunch of genres (platform, beat 'em up, puzzles and skate sections, among others), but they still feel kind of repetitive and boring after a while. You can even play with a friend, but the experience becomes rather repetitive quite quickly.
Bump
I've always had an obsession with the aesthetics of Crash 3's warp room, it's just so damn beautiful. Also just enjoy the game more than most people do, it's my favorite despite everyone else's (fair) complaints about the number of vehicle levels.
>>12576875I really like the oriental aesthetic for this warp room (also appears in one stage of the N. Tropy fight), wish we'd gotten an actual level in Warped that uses it. The Great Wall of China levels tick the oriental box but they don't look like this.I'll give Wrath of Cortex credit for having a set of levels that used this aesthetic
