I'm looking to buy a PS2 again, but I have my concerns as I've tried this two times in the past and I was quick to give up and sell them.
I've had issues mainly with gamepads, I bought like 5 in total and all of them had defects of some kind with the buttons, analogs or both. It's frustrating as they usually cost over 35€ and claim to be in good condition. Are there any new ones that are compatible with the console and aren't poor quality chinesium?

For a PS2 controller? they're like $5 bargain bin items

lmao so wrong. good ps2 controllers are a fucking insane bitch to find these days. I bought one brand new and the solders had fucking disintegrated in-box.

Honestly OP? Just emulate. Seriously man. It's not worth the fucking hassle. I can't even go back to native resolution anyways, upscaled PS2 games still hold up so well graphically besides some blurry textures.

The cheap ones kind of suck because you don't get the same sensitivity on the analogs for precise movement. You can always find some shop or some guy on the internet who fixes the Sony ones for less than the price of buying them used. I now own 4 official controllers and a knockoff one that I use for racing games only, so I don't wear out the X button on the Sony ones. Just try not to drop them, take good care of your stuff and you should be fine.

Hi OP, I sell restored ones for $25 a piece on eBay. I'm well aware of the issues with these controllers and have spent 11 years working on solving them.

You need an official ps2 controller because it had pressure sensitive buttons that alot of games require or your fucked

Another problem that can cause the buttons to not work is the wires in the cord being damaged from being pinched or rolled up.

Japanese controllers don't get nearly as gunked up or filthy as ones from the US or Europe. tf do you people do with your stuff?

Japanese have fewer sweat glands than white people.

This guy gives the skinny on H-type PS2 controllers and why these models should be avoided.

like anon said, Japanese controllers are better because they don't get as gunked up with sweat

12 years ago I bought some chink controller that's pretty much identical and it still works fine.
>>
>>12578865
That's not a joke btw East Asians actually do have fewer of them than whites.
>>
like with most cases, usually it's just a matter of taking the controller apart and cleaning it to get it working
