They're fine for what they were at the time, outside of the difficulty changes. I think they get a bad rep nowadays because it's way easier (and more socially acceptable) to experience Japanese media these days compared to the 80s and 90s, before DBZ and Pokemon created the gateway. It was at the very least far less insidious than japanese localizations are nowadays.

It's basically a really basic 16-bit JRPG but with 5th gen graphics. Which I like. But it's still a very average game overall.

Panzer Dragoon Saga isn't worth even 5% of the hype it gets from Saturn fans. It's short, has repetitive and boring combat even for a turn based RPG, has boring and bland environments, and the story is weak. Most other JRPGs from the time shit all over it. But it was a low print run in the US because Sega of America had already rightfully given up on the Saturn and didn't want to bother making more of them so actually its a HIDDEN GEM and that'll be $10,000 please.

Saturn fans should be hyping up the actual only good JRPG they have instead, which is Grandia 1. Yeah, it's on PS1 too but the Saturn version does have better visuals. The PS1 version fucked up all the ground textures and cut about half the frames of animation across the board. It's basically the only game I would say is worth playing on the damn thing, the Saturn is a complete fucking joke otherwise. I miss when Dreamcast was the fan favorite "under rated" Sega console, you could at least make a damn solid case for it being great. Saturn is irredeemable and failed for a fuckin reason.

Albert Odyssey Gaiden isn't anything remarkable, but it also doesn't have any glaring flaws. It's a pleasant enough time.
