This game is pure pain. Garbage view distance, all your equipment breaks constantly, enemy projectiles go through walls, even more maze like and confusing than Kings Field with less landmarks, no grinding levels to even out the balance. What was FromSoft thinking?

Once you clear a level of enemies the view distance increases, something you'd notice if you played for more than 5 mins

Anyway the anti Fromsoft schizo who thinks attacking their games makes of him some sort of "anti zoomer, anti poseur hardcore gamer" is going to spawn shortly so I'm out of here

It's a PS1 first person game. Of course its shit but you always find the same 2 retards who think is a masterpiece along with Kingfield. They appear in every thread.

Personally it is my favourite Fromsoft game pre-Demon Souls. The enemy variety is crazy and I think the level design is excellent. The leveling system is also cool and unique and highly encourages exploration and attention to detail. I beat it without savestates, the difficulty and fairness is pretty easily manageable.

But whats the point of defeating all enemies increasing the view distance when you need view distance to see where the enemies are. Kings Field just has regular ass view distance and plays MUCH better, meanwhile in shadow tower you're just running around a room of enemies shooting lasers at you that you cant even fucking see. And yeah I know you can use torches but the torches hardly decrease the fog.

I did a double take when I saw Jesus on the roof in a defiled alter site at the beginning. Plus other little details make the exploration pretty nice.

I wish the game stayed as harsh and unforgiving as it is at the very beginning. The resource management aspect largely becomes irrelevant later.

its not so much "git gud" its more like "keep banging your head against the wall in a dark maze full of high level enemies with weapons made out of cardboard until you have trial and error'd enough"

Kings Field was much more fun. I can't believe how many high damage, high level enemies Shadow Tower throws at you early game. Kings Field has a lot more sensible progression.

The biggest sin is the lack of a sprint button, having to navigate these poorly made hallways and square rooms every time you die with this super fucking slow ass walk is pure cancer. In Kings Field you had a sprint to alleviate this.

I use a map I got from somewhere laying out Shadow Tower's layout. So instead of entering 20+ dead end rooms I smoothly go to everywhere I actually need to. No monster placements listed but I get to discover the wide variety of what is lurking in the darkness.

These games are so short I can put up with a lot of bad for a few positives. Although that said I beat this for the first time a couple of years ago and I remember less about it than games I rented from blockbuster
